Physically small or flat gifts

My daughter and SIL are flying to another continent with their toddler on Boxing Day. I've already bought their main presents but wanted to get stocking fillers they could take with them. The adults are early thirties and the toddler is 18 months. Does anyone have ideas for small items? I was thinking of things like face masks, that could be packed easily, but I can't think of anything for the toddler apart from books, and I think familiar ones might be better there.

A teddy is light and easily squishable perhaps?

TrentCrimmsflowinglocks · 30/11/2025 20:56

Board games come in nice flat boxes….

TrentCrimmsflowinglocks · 30/11/2025 20:57

Sorry, just seen it’s for a toddler…. Wracking my brains now…

JellyWizard · 30/11/2025 21:01

One gift I've got my toddler is a hand puppet which is very flat. I've also got books and an aquadoodle mat. The mat would definitely be a good idea if you could take it out of the box and wrap it, or maybe roll/ fold it up and wrap it.

A busy board travel book, Melissa and Doug sticker wow book, water magic book, magnet board book and mess free coloring set.

Anxietybummer · 30/11/2025 21:05

A travel care package. Ear protectors, busy board, blanket and teddy

eta… I know these aren’t all flat, but they wouldn’t pack them in the case, they would take them on board therefor not utilising any of their baggage.

-leather luggage labels (or nice non leather ones if vegan etc)
-travel toiletry set- molton brown, l'occitane etc
-eye mask/ear plugs
-pop up book for the toddler

There are tons of teddies in their house, though. I think they'll take the favourite one with them.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Stickers are a bit old for her - she's got some at home and isn't really interested. I was just trying to think of something that she would like to play with on the flight but I'm getting stuck! She's got a blanket, teddy, loads of books, that sort of thing. Thanks anyway.

There’s a handful of orchard games that start from that age, and also two piece jigsaws.

RacingAcrossTheSofa · 30/11/2025 22:30

Post it notes and crayons.

Magic water colouring books (the ones that come with a pen you fill with water).

Suction spinner toys (absolute godsend with my 18m old on a long haul flight).

Hand puppet.

Orchard toys mini games

play scarf (any lightweight brightly coloured scarf will do)

Buckle toy

Also any random small toys. I went to the charity shop before our first long flight - got a little car, cow figure, etc. Things being new meant they were interesting! Pop in a little bag instead of wrapping paper and it’s a game already.

For adults, things I have sent in the post to friends abroad: crochet positive quote animal keepsake, nicely wrapped handmade soap, pretty bookmark and hand stitched notepad from foyles, gloves, photo gifts, pocket mirror,

itsalwayssunnyhere · 01/12/2025 13:16

Coloring desk calendars for adults and a busy board/budy book for a kid. Orchard games are usually going down well too!

StressieBessy · 01/12/2025 13:33

May be a bit round for it, but this game is really lovely. https://amzn.eu/d/dduA4AA
