Just asking this cos I only found out after moving in with my husband that everyone is different.
In my childhood home presents went under the tree as soon as they were wrapped and that is what I do. Tree presents were from friends and family, Father Christmas only did stockings and they were always not wrapped, small, cheap, token gifts like a novelty bubble bath, sweets, chocolate coins, a small toy and a Christmas decoration.
According to my husband presents should not go under the tree til Christmas Eve, all of them are delivered by Father Christmas even if the label says from Mum and Dad etc. and there was always one labeled from Santa (I was always taught to call him Father Christmas).
What did/do you do? Has it changed from what you did as a child? If so why?

Our presents arrive overnight Christmas Eve, largely because I don't trust the dog and cats not to mess with them.

Stocking is from Santa, and one larger gift, or a sack with 2-3 medium gifts, the main haul is from us and is left under the tree.

Stocking filling is officially the most stressful part of the night!

Presents from friends and family under the tree as soon as they are received, labelled as being from them.

Father Christmas brings children their presents on Christmas Eve night, leaves them in their bedrooms. In our family they were always the big presents from mum and dad. (We weren’t told they were from mum and dad).

Is he Australian or something. Father Christmas fills stocking at the end of the bed, with also a main gift. As you say, gifts from parents / relatives go under the tree as soon as they arrive for everyone to feel and wonder about. It's the only correct way. Your husbands Home Alone2, Lost in New York method is stupid and made up from nowhere (my MIL does that too)

Presents went under the tree on Xmas eve after we went to bed (brought by Father Christmas) but all labelled as from the giver except for one from FC/Santa.
We didn’t do stockings and never received nicknacks (shower gel, chocolate coins etc)
Saying that, as the youngest I was aware FC wasn’t real by the time I was about 4 so it as all just a performance anyway. My DF when I was a bit older explained they did Xmas eve because they were worried about getting burgled and they wouldn’t have been able to afford to replace presents so didn’t want them all just sitting around in one place and easy to see through a window, because he dreaded us not having presents as young children. We also got one gift snuck onto the ends of our beds as we slept. We weren’t meant to open them until morning but I used to lie awake wild with excitement. It backfired a few times as once they gave me a tub of marbles and it fell of the bed and when DF came to check on the noise, kicked it and nearly broke his toe! They learnt not to put a book or game on DB’s bed as he didn’t want to get up, just lay there reading whilst I cried as I wanted to start opening presents (we are a one at a time family).

I’ve got a 2yr old now so starting to develop our own traditions. I think we will keep presents upstairs until Xmas eve at least for a few years purely to avoid tempted hands. Not sure about stockings or how we want to present FC. I don’t like the huge hype around it so I think we will probably go with the one gift theory and not lay it on particularly thick. Knowing the truth never stopped Christmas being a wonderful time for me. Stockings I like in concept but then I hate the push for consumerist tut which I feel the stocking edges into, but I might try and find a slightly more comfortable way of doing it, perhaps a Lindt bunny or something and a small toy.

I'd never realised that Santa as just a delivery man was a thing until I read it on here.
Presents from friends and family go under the tree once received. Anything we buy is from Father Christmas. They get a stocking and a sack. Everything wrapped.

Father Christmas brings everything on Christmas eve. ~read I wrap everything Christmas eve~

Father Christmas picks up presents or gets them sent to him from other people. And he brings them all on Christmas eve! One present from me, the big ticket item! All under the tree together, and the kids then hunt ❤️ And the stockings by their door/hung on the door handle.

In our home the stockings are meant to be a distraction until I want to get up, but the last few years I've been awake excited before the kids 😆

Presents we give to family to under the tree once wrapped including a present to dc from us. Santa then brings a few gifts and a stocking. He has his own paper, different for each dc. Grandparents and family tend to bring presents either to family Christmas party near to Christmas or on the day and they watch them open them. If it's before Christmas they may go under the tree but likely openee at the party!!

Now the tree is up they go under as they are wrapped, they're all just from us.

Santa 'delivers' the big stuff which is unwrapped and ready to play with, sort of just a magical whimsical 'Evri or Yodel' lol. That is how it was done when we where little.

Kids have literally never asked about it but we set the narrative over a decade ago when my oldest was young that we send extra money or toys to Santa for this service which is why not everyone gets big presents delivered. Santa delivers but they are bought by parents because santa can't afford to give everyone games console and bikes and big lego etc...

Santa also has an exchange program where you can donate your old toys to other children who might love them and you might get new 'donated toys' (secondhand pre-loved gifts) too. This is a key part because I buy lots of pre-loved gifts, since Santa delivers them ready to play with the packaging really doesn't matter and you can get a lot more on a budget.

We also added in the tradition of a small sack of just cheap little gifts from the elfs at Santa workshop. They are all just classic old school toys like slinky, football, skipping rope, yoyo, harmonica etc... nothing big, expensive, fancy or modern comes as a 'gift' from Santa only 'vintage' style toys.

Stockings aren't from anyone, its just a traditional thing to do here like putting up a tree or having christmas crackers.

FC does the (wrapped) stocking gifts on the end of the bed (small token gifts plus tangerine and chocolate coins always.)
Presents from everyone else including parents go under the tree Christmas Eve night to be a lovely surprise Christmas morning.
I'm ancient and can still remember the excitement of firstly the full stocking on my bed, then seeing the presents under the tree.
No right or wrong way, but I confess I'd have struggled if dc's df had a different way of doing things! Luckily it coincided!
