What do your 5/6 year old girls really want?

Gdd2 will be 6 in early January. I’ve asked more than once, but no suggestions forthcoming from her or dd! I’ve earmarked something for her birthday but no inspiration for Christmas yet. Was in a huge toy dept. earlier, I’m sure there were lots of things she’d like, but I’m still clueless. She does like her ‘babies’ but has so many, and I gave her a baby doll last year.

Does she like drawing? Smyths do a robot that draws a picture that they have to colour in.

Icecreamandcoffee · 27/11/2025 18:35

Is she into crafting? I've got my DD a jewelry (bracelet) making kit from smyths.

Squishalongs with the Squishalongs backpack play set? My 6 year old has just got into these

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 27/11/2025 18:55

Maybe you could give her some money and offer to take her on a shopping trip.

Forgottenmyphone · 27/11/2025 19:00

Lego Friends Heartlake city kits - specifically the mall and the treehouse!
Aquabeads
Lite Brite
Vtech lockable secret diary

Needspaceforlego · 27/11/2025 19:30

Lego Friends?
I assume she has bike, scooter,?
What about a trampoline?

Needspaceforlego · 27/11/2025 19:32

Speaker so she can get music in her room

stackhead · 27/11/2025 19:33

Its been about "scruff a luv" here. Stupid furry thing.

NoisyNuthatch · 27/11/2025 19:45

How about those ‘mama surprise’ animals, my 6yo loves them especially the mice and rabbit ones.
Lego always goes down well here too,
if she likes drawing, crayola do a light up tracing pad, and some nice pastel and metallic pens
Any accessories for her babies?
A children’s digital camera

MabelMoo23 · 27/11/2025 19:47

my youngest is 8 now but over the last few years she’s been obsessed with Little Live pets

Rehoming123 · 27/11/2025 19:50

My daughter is nearly 8 now and at 5/6 she’d have loved a big crafting kit, her own little camera that prints photos (you can get kids ones, the photos aren’t great quality but fun for them), a furby, Lego, Barbies, sylvanian families. The best presents her grandparents have got her are tickets to see a show which they’ve then taken her to for a day out or bringing her on a day out shopping to choose some new clothes 🥰

GrannyTeapot · 27/11/2025 19:52

Mine has asked for Maileg Mouse things. Absolutely lovely toys, quality is excellent.

eatingpopcorn · 27/11/2025 19:52

We got our 5 year old a cd player for her room and some cds (now that’s what I call music etc) and she loves it, and choosing songs for dance parties when friends come over. Shes discovering all the 90s classics which is a bonus

RessicaJabbit · 27/11/2025 19:59

Stationery.

Anything from unicorn notes books, to post it notes. Raid the stationery aisle or Staples.

My DD is 5 nearly 6 and has and loves all of the following

Erasable pens
Pens that have 5 colours
Stapler that's hers
Sellotape dispenser (she has a cool cat one)
High lighters (cute or ordinary office ones)
Post it notes if various sizes
Magnetic shopping list that sticks to the fridge
White board and marker pens
Cork notice board
Clicky pencils

And her most prized possession...a library style date stamper. She dates all her homework, letters and reading records etc

She's getting a dymo label maker for Christmas 😊 😊

DD is getting a vinyl record player :D

thefamous5 · 27/11/2025 20:00

Mine is getting a camera, headband making set, spirograph, hair styling doll and paw patrol toy

Bunnycat101 · 27/11/2025 20:06

Mine asked for a tandom bike and a real life unicorn. Not entirely helpful!

last Christmas it was all about babies and sylvanians. I suspect this year we’ll go for some crafty things and little live pets. At 5/6 they tend to be happy with surprises

earlymorningriserzz · 27/11/2025 20:08

My 5.5 year old daughter is getting:

new reborn doll
pram
plastic storage box & paint and paintbrushes
watercolour pencils and an art pad
2 puzzles
2 board games
jellycat
a pretty dress
some books
k pop T-shirt from Zara
monster high doll
air dry clay
A stitch galaxy projector light

and then a few plastic (nonsense) cheap gifts that I know she’ll love but will end up shoved in a drawer after a few days.

this is everything she’s getting from all family!

UsernamePain · 27/11/2025 20:13

My daughter has asked for tat for Christmas- stationary, Barbie toys and a 3D pen are the main gifts I’ve gone for

ToadRage · 27/11/2025 20:19

Bags and hair accessories are my go-to for little girls. My cousin is 8, for her birthday i sent her a Disney's Stitch Tote bag with her initial on it, inside i put a sequin cat head shaped bag (that i had found on Christmas Eve but was too late to post for Christmas) and some pretty hair clips. I have also given her craft kits and home-made cross-stitched pictures in the past.

Oldieandgoldie · 27/11/2025 20:33

Hair styling head
Hair chalks
Hair gems
Yoto player/cards
Kpop ‘things’, music. keyings etc
Voucher for a grown up meal out with Grannie
Knitting Nancy
Fairy lights for bedroom
Lockable diary (but maybe keep one key safe)
Code locking money bank safe that rolls notes in too
Dance mat
Cheap Alexa type thing
Zoggs dive sticks
A book voucher every month eg £5 so she can save them for a big book
Childrens roller blades
Non battery torch
Childrens recipe book/cooking set

i love girls this age, so easy to buy for.

Offloadontome · 27/11/2025 20:42

Mine (4 and 6) are both currently obsessed with K-pop demon hunters - it's a huge craze at the moment so maybe some k pop demon hunter merch or clothing, you can get on Amazon. My 6 year old at the moment loves drawing, creating and designing things and has a "top model" book which has the outlines of people and she can design clothes over them and colour them in. She loves trying on my make-up so she's quite into little kids make up sets. She loves Claire's accessories, stick on earrings, fancy stationary. Loom bands are a good one for that age too - the little coloured elastic bands that you can make into bracelets. She still loves dressing up stuff, those plastic high heels and strutting around like she's a grown up.
Sweets and chocolate are always winners too!

A lot in her class are also Lilo and Stitch obsessed so anything Stitch related is usually a big hit too.

Hereslookinatyoukid · 27/11/2025 20:45

mud kitchen or sandpit
Small goal and football for the garden
Lego
magnetiles/connectix
train set / a real steaming brio train
bicycle
scooter
craft stuff and stationery stuff. I agree with pp tape dispensers are the thing
camera - a cheapy kids one or a repurposed old digital camera
yoto and some stories and make your own music cards
books books books (Narnia, the worst witch, dick king smith books)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 28/11/2025 19:08

Squishalongs with the Squishalongs backpack play set? My 6 year old has just got into these

Sorry to jump in here, but I was wondering how many can fit in this backpack? I’ve ordered it, but I want to order some extra Squishalongs, but not too many that they can’t be stored in it! Thanks
