Maybeitllneverhappen · 25/11/2025 22:11

Mexican theme? Chilli, fajitas, loaded nachos, tacos, guacamole etc? Plus some side salads.

RosesAndHellebores · 25/11/2025 22:15

Cottage pie?

PermanentTemporary · 25/11/2025 22:21

Another vote for tagine.

We went out for Greek food between Christmas and new Year last year, it made a really nice change from the traditional festive food. Roast a leg of lamb, slice it up and freeze, buy or make flatbread/pitta and freeze for now, and then get sides etc. to do a Greek mezze?

boredsolicitor · 25/11/2025 22:32

Greek and mezze - hadn’t thought of that . Sounds good . Or maybe I could go a cottage pie and a fish pie or perhaps a bit too everyday / mundane ?

Greek mezze would be wonderful, so many options and you can make it so bright and fresh.

Although it’s winter I think having something not heavy is a good option as people may be quite over heavy food by then.

Pulled pork in buns with corn on the cob and potato wedges.

Macaroni cheese with pigs in blankets on the top.

Greek gyros, flatbreads, salads, and potato wedges.

I literally cook 5/6 joints of meat and let them pick. Lots of pickled onions, French stick, cheese, coleslaw etc,
