Best mini break/trip gift?

Hello, my DH isn’t big on physical presents and prefer more ‘experience’ type stuff.

I want to book something for around March time - ideally two nights away.

Just wanted to see what fantastic two night breaks people have loved? We’re in Yorkshire but happy to travel abroad but obviously it’s only two nights so wouldn’t want to go too far. Also happy with the UK. We’re in our 30s and open to anything I’m just feeling uninspired so wanted to see what sorts of breaks others have done and loved!

We do a lot of trips so I'm hopeful qualified to reply!

Last year took my husband to Cornwall for 3 nights, and London for 2 nights, as short UK breaks, and we did 2 nights in Barcelona and 2 in Bruges as abroad.

This year we did 3 nights in Edinburgh, 3 nights in Devon, and 2 nights in Oxfordshire for the UK, and I didn't do a mini break abroad together with my husband this year, but I did do 2 nights in Amsterdam with my son, and 2 in Paris with my daughter.

Favourites for short breaks have been Oxfordshire as we were close to The Cotswolds- one of my favourite places in the UK, London- because there's SO MUCH to do there, and do much is free (we're museum people), and abroad, Belgium, and the Netherlands are both so great for short breaks.

I also adore Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland for any length of break, but a. I'm biased as I speak the languages so they always feel like easy countries to do, and b. In March.... if you're not a Winterling like me, you might not enjoy so much, as it is PAINFULLY cold....

Wherever you pick, hope you have a fantastic time! And also a wonderful Christmas!

Thank you so much!

This has given me lots of inspiration to investigate - I definitely don’t mind a bit of cold .. he has mentioned The Cotswolds before actually so might start there in my research.

Thanks again!

You are more than welcome!

The Cotswolds really is one of my most favourite places, and if you are considering it, I HIGHLY recommend this place: lucystearoomstow.com/
It's absolutely darling, it's well placed for some of the more famous Cotswolds towns/villages, and the breakfast is incredible- some of the best scrambled eggs I've ever had! Honestly cannot recommend enough.

Alternatively, this place isn't in The Cotswolds itself but it's only a 30-40min drive to places like Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Lower Slaughter, and so on; whatelyhall.co.uk/
This place is a wee bit dated, but it's the CHEAPEST Stately type home hotel I've ever stayed at, the room was clean and very comfortable, food was great, and staff were exceptional!

Good luck with wherever you pick, safe travels to said destination, and have a wonderful time!

The best short destinations we've done recently were Northumberland and Guernsey.

I'd say it not the most ideal time of year for Guernsey though, as that is mostly costal walks and seaside type things. Although it is an amazing place for a short-trip if the weather is nice.

Northumberland was great. Most quiet and peaceful place I've been to in the UK. Plenty of outdoor things to do if you get lucky with the weather, and some great towns if it does rain a lot.

For abroad choices, it depends a lot on what you have done before. Amsterdam is usually a very safe and easy choice. Loads of cheap and quick flights, super easy to get around, lots to do etc. You can also make it cheaper by staying outside of the city and using their amazing public transport to train or bus in.
