An adult sew-your-own-shark kit

Adult as in for grown ups. Not adult as in a shark in crotchless pants. How would that even work?

15yr old daughter wants to start sewing (but not clothes). I cant find any not-babyish sew your own teddy kits. She's a bit obsessed with sharks.

Can anyone recommend a sew your own shark kit? Not anything overly cutsey. Or any other sewing ideas?

What about making her own patch work blanket for her bed or something xx

Clothkits have some really nice sewing kits that are perfect for beginners.

I’m not sure that’s a good idea for a first sewing project.
I suggest finding fabric scraps and some stuffing in shark colours if you can’t find a sew your own shark specifically.
or get something else shark themed and a different kind of sewing kit.

That’s quite niche 😆

this maybe?

Simplicity (very good for beginners) do a shark pattern, but it’s quite old so you might struggle to track a copy down.

I’d strongly suggest that you get her on a course that either teaches her to read a pattern, or gets her familiar with her sewing machine so she knows how to thread it, adjust tensions and change the foot etc. Hobbycraft do the sewing machine class and your local fabric shop will probably be running classes too. They normally do cushions, toiletry bags etc rather than clothes.

If she wants to handsew or is already ok with her machine, then I’d get on Etsy for a shark pattern. They’ll have a PDF download with step by step instructions for well under a tenner (probably under £5) and it’ll be easier than using a traditional pattern.

Thanks.

I'm confident with a machine and she's used them before. If anything I think her hand sewing needs work.

I'm also able to read and alter patterns as lomg as it's nothing too complicated.

A quilt is way too much for her right now and not what she's after.

Would she like embroidery or cross stitch do you think? Lots of more modern and edgy designs out there. Particularly embroidery if she wants more creative freedom.

Not a shark sorry. But I loved this kit to sew a whale cushion
