This is a request for help with a birthday present, but figured asking on the Christmas board would be a good place for ideas.
A group of us have had a collection for a friend’s significant birthday. Budget c£100 (we can go a little over for the right present).
Generally with this group we have no issues with ideas for each other but this one is trickier than most.

We have a ‘no voucher rule’, so will honour that.
She likes very expensive cosmetics and toiletries, happily spends her own money on those and beauty treatments so wouldn’t really be a treat for her unless someone comes up with something unusual.
I’m not sure our budget woukd reach to the kind of jewellery she usually wears and I know she had a fabulous new jewellery box from her DH last year.
She enjoys a drink but has a well stocked drinks cupboard, different flavoured gins, and all the glasses etc she could ever need. They eat out a lot so wouldn’t do restaurant vouchers even if vouchers were an option, and tends to take her friends for afternoon tea for their birthdays so don’t think this would be special for her even if delivered to her home.
She does like candles, but has lots. I would keep this as an absolute fall back plan.
Not someone who plays board games etc
She doesn’t cook much and wouldn’t appreciate cookery books or equipment.
She has very particular tastes in handbags and purses although I might see if I can find something along those lines she might like.
She’s not a big fan of houseplants (and usually kills them!) Not a Gardner, but I had hit upon the idea of a really lovely outdoor planters for the front of her house, then she had people to stay for a while a few weeks ago who bought her a gorgeous one.
She has a basket of luxurious throws in her lounge so that’s covered.
For anyone else with this sort of profile I’d be considering a charity gift but she’s had a rough time for various reasons this last year so want something which is a treat for her
We are stumped! Every idea someone comes up with, we think of a reason why not!!
Any ideas welcome, thank you

What does she buy for other people? I feel like people always buy others presents they might want themselves, so that might give you some clues? Otherwise I think the suggestions for custom lipstick and perfume sound amazing, I’d love someone to get that for me!

Does she enjoy games? There are various live experiences in London e.g. monopoly, sherlock Holmes, traitors etc. Or an escape room.

Or a floristry experience e.g. a wreath or table centerpiece workshop? (Replace with chocolate/jewellery/sushi dependent on her likes)

Or something completely unexpected/ thrilling e.g. tickets to Go Ape.

Sounds like she enjoys luxury etc. just because she has money and buys her own luxe, doesn’t mean she won’t appreciate being treated by her friends. If anything she will value it.
In that budget I’d get her a silk square or some beautiful leather gloves. Sounds like it might suit her lifestyle.
Always a good idea to see what you can get in TK Maxx Gold Label then the budget goes further!

…or £100 goes quite a long way in Monica Vinader during the current Black Friday sales!

Book a private chef to come to her house and cook? You won't get a top chef for £100 but you can certainly find some at that price.

Is she into/would appreciate sustainable stuff? Buyitonce has some good ideas like buy it for life kettles, coffee bits, luxurious pepper grindersclothes and washbags.

I did a Skeppshult cast iron pepper grinder and Bopot (I think) fancy black and red peppercorns that went down a treat the other year.

An expensive indie perfume for an obscure smell? Could you think of anything to do with her childhood or special times, hit on the sentimental aspect?

I think Etsy has some lovely things .My Cousin who is very well off with everything you could think of. /Has travelled extensively, always appreciates some scented chocolates .Etsy have a wide range of chocolate mints /scented chocs/. vegan chocs for my vegan friend .What about some Neils yard shower gel/smellies .TBH its the thught that counts .even if she has some of these it doesnt matter .its a gift from you isnt it .

The best gift I received was a voucher to an interiors shop - the kind where all the stuff is gorgeous but hard to justify the cost. I know you said no vouchers but it was much more fun going in with a set amount to spend and getting exactly what I wanted.

A Freddie’s Flowers or Bloom & Wild subscriptions for three months or so. A bouquet would arrive every few weeks during a fairly dismal time of year.

BeaLola · 23/11/2025 12:05

Lisa Eldridge refillable lipstick - I think you can buy as a gift and recipient chooses the "colour" they would like - I think for extra you can have upto 3 initials engraved

Victoria Beckham or Chanel mirror compact

If you knew a particular favourite book then a Foilio Society version of it or clothbound Penguin version

The Wren or Lumos from Toms Studio

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/11/2025 12:06

Theatre or cinema tickets?

Thank you for all the lovely suggestions. I’ve picked up some ideas for other people‘s Christmas presents.
Unfortunately for this friend, but fortunately for us, she lost her good leather gloves on a boozy night out on Friday. We are going to replace them. She knows this (we thought we’d better tell her so she didn’t replace them herself).
we are also going to buy a cheaper pair for nights out.
Thanks again
