Gymnastics bar

Hi everyone,

Any recommendations for a good solid gymnastics bar for home that is not massively expensive, for a 7 year old who has never done gymnastics but loves trying in the park or at the odd gymnastics party.

Thank you

No recommendations for this but something which a gymnastics mad child might like is a chin up bar. I bought it for our DD to dangle from & practise her strength exercises. By chance, the door I chose was at the end of the hall
so she use to swing wildly and then launch herself down the hallway which she thought was a lot of fun.

Second that- the pull up bar in the door frame has been perfect for us too.

a full gymnastics bar is secured by metal ropes. Unless you want to spend a fortune or risk something potentially dangerous then I'd stick with a chin up bar to go in a doorway.

Thank you that’s interesting, any particular brands you recommend and is any door frame strong enough?

I'm buying DS (skinny 14 year old) this one https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/locking-door-mount-pull-up-bar-bt-150-70-cm/325833/m8588490 on the recommendation of a friend whose DS already has it (and is taller and heavier than my DS so I'm fairly confident it won't fall down!).

If you go for it please let me know if you come across a free delivery code as I'm too far from a shop to click and collect and delivery is £5.49 which is a tad steep for a £20 present.

Our house dates from the 60s and it seems fine.
Can your DD do monkey bars? I’m guessing she can if she does gymnastics. You do need to have decent upper body strength to use it and so it would be a bit of a dud present if she doesn’t. Also, it’s completely underwhelming when unwrapped. It took us a few days to get around to installing it & then DD used it very carefully for a couple of days and then a friend of her’s came over, said “oh, we’ve got one of these”, jumped up, grabbed it & promptly flew down the hallway, something which I wasn’t expecting! Much fun has been had ever since.
