P.Louise for dc- what did you get?

Like every other girl I know my DD’s age (8.5), she’s asked for PLouise products. I don’t really know what though? She mentioned a hand cream that can clip onto her backpack (although it’s £14🫠). Obviously she likes the look of the makeup too. If you bought PLouise stuff for your Dd, what did you get? I wouldn’t let her wear makeup out of the house but I’m not buying her foundation or mascara. Lipgloss and eyeshadow (I stress for inside) maybe? She doesn’t have any ‘kids’ makeup but has always wanted it, I’ve just not bought it (yet). Just bought her lipbalms in the past (not PLouise).

8.5?! That is so sad. Give her a Smyths catalogue and tell her to think again. The only girls I know who want Plouise have access to Tiktok.

purplespink · 21/11/2025 07:24

@User28425she 100% doesn’t have access to TikTok; no phone and parental controls on iPad; she’s heard it from school friends.

I wouldn't buy her any of it. Plouise used to be decent years ago but is now marketed towards children, the fact their most popular product is called Bad B.tch energy and being pushed at children is quite frankly disgusting IMO. But if you insist on buying it you're best off buying it from Tiktok shop as it's much cheaper on there and there's lots of bundles and I believe they have a Black Friday sale ATM.

Elphaba17 · 22/11/2025 08:21

Ignore the other posters, children like what they like and you can use common sense about what you buy. At her age I would avoid the BBE boxes, although their lip glosses are lovely, but I agree the packaging just doesn’t feel age appropriate. They have a great Black Friday sale on at the moment and if you join their loyalty scheme you can earn points to use off your purchase.

Every order this month comes with a free mini cranberry handcream that has a keyring attached so that’s that sorted. Some ideas below of things I think would be ok for her age and give her the brand fix:

My daughter (22) had a monthly subscription to PLouise for 12 months ish. It’s all a bit shit if you ask me. She passed on a few bits and I’m not a fan.

purplespink · 22/11/2025 08:28

I ended up ordering her a lipgloss with a crown on it, a hair bow and a 4 quad purple eyeshadow. I did also get a cranberry hand cream but it charged me £10 for it 🫠

A hand cream and lipgloss maybe ok, but no other skin care products at that age. A friend at work has a DD the same age and he was telling me how obsessed she is with expensive skincare too. It’s quite sad isn’t it young girls of that age are asking for things like that. My DD is 17 so bypassed that skincare obsession that the young girls have.

noscoobydoodle · 22/11/2025 09:32

My DD is getting the lip gloss, lip balm, body wash and shampoo and conditioner. It's been all the rage with her friends at school and they often gift each other the lip gloss etc for birthdays. I try and avoid the bad B range. It's not my cup of tea but it makes her happy and the sales are good which means it's cheaper than some of the other similar things on her wish list (looking at you sol de Janeiro and drunk elephant!). (Edited typo,)

PracticalPixie · 22/11/2025 09:37

I think what you've bought sounds fine op. Luckily my dd hasn't heard of Plouise (which I always hear as 'plaweez' when I read it), but kids want the thing they've heard of.

It was White Fox hoodies before and then Stanley cups and Labubus. This is just another thing like that.

I agree I wouldn't buy anything with Bad Bitch Energy on it for an 8yo, which you haven't.

purplespink · 22/11/2025 10:19

Yes I definitely intentionally avoided the bad bitch stuff, thats in no way suitable. Also not starting her on skincare, she’s not mentioned it thankfully!

I genuinely HATE this trend. 8 year old boys are still asking for games and toys at this age, not make up and skin care.

Plinketyplonks · 22/11/2025 16:08

My daughter is 8 and hasn’t mentioned this brand at all. It’s interesting how some things pass them by! For a while she mentioned ‘bubble skincare’ as a friend had some. She likes a lip balm so I’ll put some in her stocking if I find a bargain.
