Teenage Boys

I have 3 teenage nephews coming to visit before Christmas, they live abroad. As we don't see them often I'm struggling with what to get them for Christmas. They seem to have everything! Any ideas?? Around £20-£30 each.

Maybe a card game each and a Perplexus ball or Shashibo cube. There are several different versions of the Perplexus balls and Shashibo cubes. Card games which are popular with my DS are Monopoly Deal, Monopoly Bid, Shot in the Dark and Taco Cat…

I think teenage boys appreciate both small things (like Xmas socks or a Xmas mug with a hot chocolate kit inside) as well as money.

caramac04 · 20/11/2025 09:45

Power bank for mobile phone
wireless charger for mobile phone
crew socks
Shin guards if they play football (flexible rubber ones seem to be becoming popular)
Ditto for grippy bottom socks

I just bought my son a plasma lamp and it went down very well.

Are they limited with luggage space when going home?
If so maybe some traditional British chocolate etc that they can eat while here.
Do they read English? A couple of classic British novels maybe.

I got these for my nephews. I found a code somewhere that brought them down to about £25. www.footasylum.com/men/mens-accessories/water-bottles/stanley-1913-everyday-camp-mug-035l-golden-rod-coral-4123206/

No, they drive over so luckily space is not an issue and English is their first language 👍🏻

vouchers? Can maybe seem a bit impersonal but always goes down well here

familyissues12345 · 20/11/2025 11:51

What are we talking age wise? There’s a bit of a difference between 13 year olds and 17 year olds.

Boring, but socks? I’ve got two boys, one still a teen and one in early 20’s and both still always ask for new Nike socks. If you look on the Nike website they have a decent selection and quite a few are on sale at the mo

StruggleFlourish · 20/11/2025 11:59

Yes, it would be helpful to know their ages and also do you know much else about them and their likes and dislikes? If not that's okay.
You stay there from another country, there's three of them, they're boys, they're between the age of 13 and 19, and their first language is english.

When I was a teenager I visited relatives in another country, we did not have the same language but we muddled through as best we could, and I really enjoyed trying the different foods that I'd never had before. Prepared food / meals were interesting but I mean confectionaries / snacks / small things that you could go to the shop and buy yourself that you thought looked appealing to you.

I didn't need any gifts (although we brought a bunch to share with our family... Stuff that we didn't think they'd be able to get in their country), the experience of traveling, staying with family who I didn't know well, trying new foods, experiencing new things was gift enough.

FurForksSake · 20/11/2025 12:03

Unusual board / card games are good, lots of options on Amazon, big potato games do lots on there. Ramen and Japanese snacks / accessories books. My eldest loves to be cosy while he’s gaming, fluffy socks, slanket, slippers, oodie (adult size) all very well loved.

if in doubt - favourite snack / hot sauce / chocolate / sweets and cash.

This is a great idea. My boys are teens and loved raiding the grocery stores on our recent holidays.

13, 15 and 17! They don't seem to be as concerned with trends like we do in the UK, never seem to be obsessed with any sort of craze. They all like gaming but seem to have everything related to that.

Lynx Africa gift set and a chocolate orange each. Or maybe a box of Maltesers.

Traditional, innit.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 20/11/2025 18:31

A cadburys bar or marmite tub with their names on.

do they support a British football or rugby team via their British parent’s allegiance? I know a teen friend of DS who has Spanish family loves getting football shirts/scarves/other merch from the local team his dad’s family all support.

are you from a part of the country with a strong local culture/symbols, like the Yorkshire or Lancaster roses or Cornish flag, hoodie with that on (but not too big, small logo).

frozendaisy · 20/11/2025 18:41

Cards Against Humanity FAMILY EDITION
Hues and Cue board game - released last year very popular with our teens
Herd Mentality board game

If you want smaller to travel there are a whole heap of different coloured Sussed card game, fun conversational game, I advise the colours purple, blue and green

frozendaisy · 20/11/2025 18:42

Or combine their money and get them a decent dart board between them and one set of darts

SleafordSods · 20/11/2025 19:23

I like the idea of a card game. We’ve always enjoyed Exploding Kittens avd a few chocolate bars that are popular here?

That’s a brilliant idea! My DS is 15 and plays on his loads with his older brother.
