We save each month for it and spend out of that. That includes food ,and says out .

Openmouthinsertfood · 20/11/2025 02:41

I have 16 and 19 year old relatives and this year they want cash, so I'm giving them £200.00 each. They do have one or two presents to open as I started buying before they decided on the money.

VictorBaucherOrSomething · 20/11/2025 08:04

About £300 on each child, ages 15 and 11

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 20/11/2025 08:11

This sort of question is going to attract all sorts of answers. There is no right or wrong, only what works best for your own individual circumstances

Don't get drawn in to what other people spend.

HushTheNoise · 20/11/2025 08:21

Most will be somewhere between £10 and £1000.

I don’t set out a budget.
I buy what I can afford and add bits in as and when I have some spare money.

mumonthehill · 20/11/2025 11:43

£150 either gift or cash depending on what they want and then a small stocking. I am really trying to limit now as it is so easy to go mad on stuff they no longer want now they are 18 and 25.

TeenToTwenties · 20/11/2025 11:45

£200-£300. We can afford it. If we couldn't we would spend less.

Moonlightfrog · 20/11/2025 16:20

I have 2 dc ages 21 and 19

I have spent around £150 on dd1, she hasn’t asked for much and earns her own money (tends to buy what she needs/wants)

I have spent around £380 on dd2 19, she has SEN’s so not in work (in a placement), she needed a new iPad which she uses for communication and making music. The rest was spent in art supplies.

frozendaisy · 20/11/2025 18:50

All in including stockings and just one more little thing to open, £300-350 each.

Bluefloor · 20/11/2025 18:53

Probably more this year as I’m getting my eldest a bike, and I’d rather than a decent one that will likely last him now. Normally it’s probably around £200 each once stocking fillers have been included. When they were younger we probably spent £50 each on a main gift. I feel now their main gifts are things that will last years, and can be passed down to the younger ones, so id rather spend more. I never go in debt for Christmas however. I would scale things back (as we had to do a couple of years ago)

toadstool32 · 22/11/2025 19:04

£300 of actual spends on dd 15 and 11. However, nothing is bought at full price thanks to Black Friday and Blue Light discounts so they’ve actually got about £400-£450 worth of gifts.

Avie29 · 23/11/2025 10:36

We don’t really have a budget per child (5) we just make sure they each get what they have asked for (main presents) and then make sure they all have the same amount of presents, so this year my youngest son will probably have more spent on him as he is getting a ipad, whereas my daughter has asked for a stunt scooter which cost less 🤷🏻‍♀️ but if i took an average of the amount spent (we have finished Christmas shopping, started in late august) its £400ish per child xx

Why does anyone else’s spending have any bearing? We could spend £5k without it impacting our lives but don’t as we don’t think it’s necessary or appropriate. Usually a max of £100 for the DT’s. A token present for our parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. DH and I don’t buy for each other

Nightlight8 · 23/11/2025 10:40

DC main cost £350. I will probably spend another £150ish. His birthday is in early January too.

Zanatdy · 23/11/2025 12:08

Mine are 21 and 17, £250-300. Mainly clothes / trainers / cosmetics etc

CharlotteCChapel · 23/11/2025 12:23

£75, or £150 a couple

Papyrophile · 23/11/2025 12:45

Our family secret santa sets a £75 limit.

SMC1984 · 23/11/2025 15:02

Two daughters aged 9 and 11.
Budget is £200 each including Christmas eve pjs.

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 24/11/2025 11:10

£500 until they are 16, after that its £30 and small gift

NovemberRedHolly · 24/11/2025 11:12

£1000 limit for my teen but they are getting a new phone on top of that. Trainers or perfume alone can cost £100 so it doesn’t go far.

3WildOnes · 24/11/2025 11:18

I've spent roughly
£250 on14 year old
£150 on10 year old
£100 on 6 year old
