3 year old gifts under £10

Between Christmas and various birthdays, I've got several 3 year olds to buy gifts for. With some just being nursery friends, I don't know them that well, so would like some suggestions for gifts that you could basically give to any 3 year old child - boy or girl - no more than £10.

Colouring books/crayons
Cars/trains/dolls etc
Board games
Books

Pyjamas/blankets
Jigsaws

It is hard when you don’t really know the child isn’t it

MiddleAgedDread · 17/11/2025 13:32

basic card games / orchard toys games
jigsaws
Sticker / activity books
bath toys

Argos do a range of toys at 2 for £15.
But I'm firmly of the belief you can't go wrong with bath bombs/colour changing bubble bath/foam bubble bath. And love it when people get these for my kids as they're consumable! 😂

The Works have some colouring cases in 2 for £12. Dinosaur I would give to either boy or a girl. There’s a few gifts in there suitable for 3 year olds - play doh.

I'd just get them all books - a good quality picture book is under a tenner. My strategy is to go to a really good bookshop and pick very recently published books. That way they won't already have them, even if they have older siblings.

Also agree with PPs who say jigsaws and basic turn-taking games. DS got lots of these for his third birthday from parents of friends who'd turned 3 earlier, and it turned out that this is indeed the age they start being able to do them.

Orchard toy games, probably on offer in Lidl/Aldi.

Is there really a precedent to buy nursery friends a Christmas present!?

Sticker Wow from Melissa and Doug
Playdough
Orchard Toy Games
Jigsaws

All wonderfully generic and appealing

If you’ve got a big Asda near, these might be good - I recently bought 3 for a niece’s children. £5.50 each!

Anything crafty works for boys and girls, colouring books, painting money boxs, statues, colour your own cushions and backpacks.

Id personally do a trip to home bargains or hobby craft and have fun loading up.

GreenMeeple · 17/11/2025 19:22

Bathbombs, ones that just change the bath colour not ones with toys in them.

I get this with all little kids I don't really know. They all love them (so far) and the parents are happy because it's not another plastic toy.

Sorry, should clarify it’s kids from nursery but who are having birthday parties we’ve been invited to, just meaning that’s why I don’t know them well. Don’t worry, not starting a terrible new trend of spending money on every child in the room 😀

thanks for the suggestions. I’d kind of like to avoid puzzles as if these kids are anything like mine, they already have 30 (each with at least one peace inexplicably missing).

Think I’ll take a trip to hobby craft and have a look at some bath bombs too, hadn’t considered those.
