Which of these play kitchens should I get. One is obviously cheaper which is making my decision too hard. Tbh I’m sure my dd will love either. Does anyone had one they recommend?

dd is 3 for context. And we can afford the more expensive one but don’t have money to waste.

I think the Smyths one looks more solid so would go for that one. Dd had one from Ikea for her second Christmas and absolutely loved it, it was so solid it still looked new when she stopped playing with it aged 7.

seems very basic but do agree it looks solid. I’d like it to last.

we had the ikea kitchen and it lasted really well - would totally recommend. Ikea also good for lots of little plates/pans etc to go with it
just don’t do what we did and leave till midnight on xmas eve to assemble!

butimamonstersaidthemonster · 16/11/2025 15:19

Now the ikea one is in the mix I’m even more confused.

what I liked about the ikea one is that the legs can be raised, so it can grow as child grows…

starballoons · 16/11/2025 15:27

we had the older version of the ikea one, it was brilliant and really durable. You may even be able to get it second hand on marketplace which would save you needing to assemble!

butimamonstersaidthemonster · 16/11/2025 15:54

I don’t know. It seems a bit plain to me.

This is the Ikea one we had, but in light blue. Most research suggests that children actually respond better to things that aren't overly stimulating to look at as it helps develop their imagination, so I wouldn't worry about it seeming plain. It's also really good because the storage space inside is brilliant and you can adjust the height as the child grows.

However, I wouldn't over think it too much, I'm sure they'll love whichever one you end up choosing.

Yeah I saw this one and the £65 one. But I’m already pushing the budget at £79 and I know it’s only an extra £6 but it’s always only an extra… isn’t it.

WeightLossGoal2024 · 18/11/2025 23:26

The ikea one is fab! Survived 3 kids , a house move , soooooo many play dates!

frozendaisy · 18/11/2025 23:41

I’d get the Smyths one

and fridge
