Gift wrap……anyone else enjoy wrapping?

I often hear people moan about wrapping gifts, or leaving it until the last minute. Is there anyone else here that absolutely loves wrapping gifts? And if so, do you go all out with the ribbon, string, labels etc…?

What gift wrap are you using this year?
Do you have a theme?
Do you have different wrapping for each child/person?

wrapping haters need not comment 😉…..unless you want me to wrap for you.

I enjoy it but I make an event of it and do it all in one night with a Christmas film. It must also involve a bottle of wine!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 13/11/2025 20:58

They look very pretty @Peppermintcreamz 🩷

I love it! I have a selection of papers and tissue and just choose randomly as I go along….then ribbon and tags with twine and Christmas sticker….,I’ve don’t loads of my wrapping already….I keep looking at it in the spare bedroom…..and admiring my handiwork 😂…..it will all go straight under the tree when it goes up on1st Dec…I will do all my mums wrapping as well!

WingBingo · 13/11/2025 21:03

I love it. I use an ironing board to wrap presents on. It’s a great tip.

I get all I need, including good tape, and have a lovely drink to hand whilst listening to Christmas music or a movie.

My DH and I love wrapping, we do it together. The best part is when he’s wrapping the ones he’s going to give me, under my nose, while I’m in the room. He teases me with “do you know what I’m wrapping for you?” I just stick my tongue out when he says this, because I’m blindfolded so I can’t see what he’s wrapping. 😛

I hate it, DD loves it and now has a lucrative slideline income wrapping things that I don’t want to 🤣 She finds it relaxing…

I used to do this for my mum - I found wrapping very relaxing! (Wish she had paid me!)

I used to really enjoy putting on some carols and relaxing with some wrapping. Would design a wrapping theme, make tags and decorate things with greenery and ribbon and so on. These days though I tend to find it a bit stressful as I have so much else to do at Christmas, and DH leaves it all to me 😬 Wrapping now is more of an extra chore. And sadly my DD doesn’t seem to love doing it like I did, so I can’t even pass it over to her!

I love wrapping presents, love how a tree looks with presents under it, no matching or coordination of paper here, I just buy the stuff that I love, usually garish, colourful and festive!

RandomUsernameHere · 13/11/2025 21:34

My DMum enjoys it and often helps with mine too!

User214263 · 13/11/2025 22:12

I love the buying of wrapping paper and the idea of wrapping more than actually doing it. I usually put a Christmas film and open a bottle of wine so the first gifts are expertly wrapped but it's all very sloppy by the end of the bottle. 😆

pinkksugarmouse · 13/11/2025 22:31

I don't enjoy it but I don't hate it. I only wrap for DD and DH and DD's late November birthday. I only have one left to wrap. Its neat but I gave up on perfection a couple of years ago after a complex wrist surgery.

evtheria · 13/11/2025 22:38

I love planning how I’ll wrap things, the colours or patterns I’m using, making gift tags or printing a pattern onto paper, choosing ribbons or what-have-you… but when I’m actually doing it I always remember I’m not 100% perfect at actually wrapping so that ruins the mood a bit. Like, my planning & art direction is 5* but execution is just 4: the corners aren’t sharp or the left flap of paper is wider than the right flap etc etc… Still can’t bring myself to just do them all in gift bags, however!

Kickinthenostalgia · 13/11/2025 22:42

I actually like wrapping, my back doesn’t but I do 😂 I do gifts from Santa in different wrapping paper to what I use. Don’t wrap everyone’s in specific paper, I literally do a lucky dip in my box of wrapping paper, once used it’s out to the side and then start again once I’ve used them all. We don’t do aesthetically pleasing Christmas decs here we are all about the tacky retro 80’s 90’s so my mismatch wrapping paper all fit in perfectly 😂

ItWasTheBabycham · 13/11/2025 22:47

I love it. This week my camera on my laptop is “broken” and I’m doing all my wrap in meetings

mondaytosunday · 13/11/2025 22:47

I love it! My kids are grown so fewer to wrap. I sort of theme it every year - last year we were traditional red so most of the paper had predominantly red in it, the year before more pastels, another year if it’s a Nordic white theme the predominant colour of the paper will be white, but I’m not a slave to it and want a bit of variety. I used to be more inventive with different bows and ribbon but less so now, though small odd shaped things I often roll in tissue paper and tie each end so it looks like a cracker.
I also confess I could open a shop with the amount of paper I have. At least 60 rolls.

catontheironingboard · 14/11/2025 00:44

At least 60 rolls.

Oh my lord! I thought I was bad with about ten 😆🤣

Moonlightfrog · 15/11/2025 21:01

I bought some lovely wrapping paper in TK max which I will use for adult presents, they had lots of gift wrap to choose from. I have bought paper with Robins in for dd1 and some pink paper with penguins for dd2. I am trying to wait until December to wrap. Like a lot of people on here, I like to wrap whilst watching a cheesy christmas film whilst drinking Baileys.

I like it now I have a tape dispenser, game changer don’t t know why I haven’t had one for ages. Different paper each then can go in their bags with no tags. Keep the bags for next year.

Mymanyellow · 15/11/2025 21:09

Can’t drink Baileys though. Not since that time in the Blackwall Tunnel.

sanityisamyth · 15/11/2025 21:15

I like it but I just keep things very simple. Paper and a gift tag. Done.

Piemam · 15/11/2025 21:29

@VikingLady ah, I can feel your emotion here, I understand where you're coming from, that's so hard. My thoughts go out to you.

Like others, yep, ironing board a game changer- no more achey back! (I'm a shortarse anyway, but still the back would get me before.) Also, a drink and music or a film does the trick, and I enjoy that everything looks fabulous, even if no one else gives a crap! Love the brown paper, kraft theme with ribbon and interesting points like candy canes and the like.

Peppermintcreamz · 13/11/2025 19:33

I love it, although I don’t think I’m very good at it! Here’s how it has turned out so far. No particular theme but I do love bows 😁

I love the pink striped wrapping paper! Can I ask where it's from please?
