My adult daughter really got into cooking this year. Wondering what I should get her, cooking related, maybe some cool kitchen gadget/slicer?

A really good set of knives.

Foresthealing · 12/11/2025 09:42

Good set of knifes, sushi making it (some good inexpensive ones on Amazon), cookbook (get a fun one), maybe personalised apron and cooking gloves. Spice kit,

Well, what does she already have? What kind of food does she cook?

Agree that knives woukd be great if she doesn’t have good ones. I bought DH, who is an excellent cook, a blowtorch for Christmas one year.

A voucher for a cookery course? Something that will teach her how to master the basics to a chef level or if she has a particular cuisine a course on that?

What does she like doing most? My dd is a Baker, so she gets a lot of baking related schizz. Her bf is a sous chef, so lots of cheffing stuff. (We rein it in a bit now because they endbup with too much stuff)What i did buy her a few years ago is a stone paper chef's notebook, like this . Stone Journal Chef Notebook – Black 13 × 21 cm Waterproof Paper, 144 Pages, Half Lined & Half Blank, Vegan Leather Hardcover, Kitchen Conversions, Premium Recipe Book : Amazon.co.uk: Stationery & Office Supplies share.google/4eluOaQkVp8UnhfroThe paper is tough, wipe clean and with resources in the back. Got her some sharpie gel pens to go with it. Also a Japanese style apron.

Try a gift pack of spice and spice blends from Seasoned Pioneers. They do lovely ones with recipe books to coordinate with them. The Curry one looks great and I am thinking of getting it.for my brother.

APatternGrammar · 12/11/2025 10:17

Does she have good pans?

neonleopard · 12/11/2025 10:22

I’ve got my DH a ninja food processor, got him Global knives for his birthday. A Kenwood K Mix would be a great gift. If she likes making pizza, a pizza stone? Herb growing set? I like all the Joseph Joseph and Alessi branded kitchen things.

What's your budget?

Sous Chef is great for gifts. They do cooking kits Premium Cooking Kit Gift Sets - Curated by Food Lovers – Sous Chef UK which comprise a lovely cookbook plus set of ingredients suited to the recipes.

Good knives or pans are always welcome but expensive and she may already have them.

For bakers, micro scales are a game changer- they allow you to weigh tiny amounts accurately which is great if you are making more complex things like macarons.

I’m getting my partner a cookery course with Richard Bertinet. He loves Bertinet, and has all of his books.

DP has also completed some of the Leiths courses and really rated them.

Microplane grater
Good spatulas
Meat thermometer
Pyrex glass jugs
Good baking trays
Sabatier small curved paring knife
Le creuset cast iron casserole or dupe
Sourdough making kit

Perruquier · 12/11/2025 10:28

If she’s a serious cook, I wouldn’t buy her a spice kit. You’ll get better, fresher spices by buying them yourself in small amounts from somewhere with a fast turnover.

If she’s set for pans and knives, depending on your budget, a food processor of some kind would be great, and a micro scales is a great idea.

But again, a lot will depend on what type of thing she cooks. Or if she bakes.
