Gift for someone after radiotherapy

Hello! What would be a good gift for someone who's just been through radiotherapy and will be on hormone tablets for the foreseeable.

It's for my DH aunt, we don't normally do gifts but will be seeing her between Christmas and NY. No alcohol or chocolates.

Budget £25-30

Thanks!!

Just buy what you would have done if she wasn’t having the treatment, avoiding anything you know she doesn’t like or is not able to have. It’s nice not to be reminded the whole time of your diagnosis- I got/ didn’t get you this because you’ve got xyz spoils the Christmas sentiment. If you don’t know what she might like, then a voucher for something that doesn’t involve much walking about - hairdresser, manicure, cream tea or theatre - as treatment is very tiring for many people. But e.g. if she’s got no appetite or doesn’t feel up to travelling far, these wouldn’t work.

I think this is my long-winded way of saying buy for the person, not the illness.

If you want to get a gift because of her illness then do it separately from Christmas. Personally, I like receiving flowers as they are something I would never have been given or bought myself before my diagnosis, but another person may hate them because they wilt and die and drop bits on the floor.

I totally agree to buy for the person and not the illness. When my DH finished his radiotherapy, he wanted to escape being a cancer patient despite side effects and still being on hormone suppressing medication. He wanted to be treated the same as anyone else/how he was normally treated.

I think OP means that she wants to buy a Xmas present but due to the radiotherapy certain gifts will not be suitable (like alcohol) as they have reactions to things for a while after treatment has finished
Id say a voucher for a clothes shop or hairdressers. Explain to the hairdresser so they will know to avoid certain products

My MiL had a textured silk scarf one year. It was popular.

Having had radiotherapy, and also taking these tablets, I would say nice pair of slipper boots and a good book 🥰

Yes exactly this! We don't normally buy for her, but it's because we are visiting after Christmas. I'd normally take chocolates and wine etc, but I don't think this would work this year.

A good book is a great idea!
