I am just trying to gauge if I am being reasonable. I haveone child age 7. Single parent. Average to low income. I am looking at budgets for Christmas presents. Is £400 to much. For context I buy them very little in the way of toys all year as I prefer to go out and do stuff. Child does not have any technology at mine so was looking to buy a switch. So with this in mind only leaves around £150 for other gifts.
Christmas events are not in this budget.

For clarity their dad will buy them stuff for their house.

To be fair the switch is a good investment. DS has the origal switch hes had it for around 5 years and it still works. I don't see the issue.

Not on only, but I’ve spent £420 on my 8yo DD. And £610 on 13yo DS.

I save every month so it’s not a shock come this time of year, and usually budget around 500 per child give or take.

I’m not a massive gift giver through the year, Christmas and birthdays are the times you get the stuff you really want in our house.

OP I think it’s a completely normal amount. Unfortunately as they get older the money doesn’t stretch as far.
