Year after year I’ve bought our turkey from M&S

But they are never amazing…nice, of course. So is it worth just buying one from Aldi? What are your opinions about this?

How about Turkey crown?

We get one of the fancy free range Aldi or Lidl turkeys every time. They’ve always been reliably lovely and good quality - never been disappointed.

I paid an extortionate amount at our local butchers for years but last year tried a frozen one from Tesco and it was just the same! Might be my cooking but I'm doing the same this year

Best turkey is one brined with Nigella’s recipe. I might do a dry brine this year, if the weather is cold enough.

Cheap as chips turkey is nice when it’s brined. Expensive turkeys have never been particularly better than cheap.

Best turkey was an emergency turkey from Iceland, years ago. It was partially boned and stuffed, and cooked from frozen. It was great. They haven’t had the same since, unfortunately, or we’d just get that.

They do prepared food that is of a very high standard, we have their Christmas food every year. I love that I can book it now, including turkey, roast potatoes etc and a couple of other meals for over Christmas and then book a delivery day with not problem. Then I have everything I need in advance. I've had out of stock turkeys from Sainsbury's when I've booked a delivery, had to go and collect stuff on Christmas eve, had food that I had booked from Waitrose go out of stock even though it was their pre-booked stuff but Cook food have never let us down on delivery or quality. I just don't recommend their frozen greens. The pies, turkey, all ready meals and puds are delicious!

We really like the turkey’s we’ve had from the butcher, but at over £100 I just don’t think it’s worth it, the crown we got from M&S last year £50 was very nice and will probably get the same this year.

Yes, seconded. A turkey crown from M&S. But we always cook a gammon too - the flavours complement one another.

We always buy ours direct from a farmer.

It tastes amazing, full of flavour and not dry at all. I look forward to it every year.

I’ve never bought one from M&S! Always bought a fresh one from Lidl about £25 and always cook it the Phil vickery way moist and delicious!
