Hey Mumsnetters
need some ideas for Christmas for a 10 year old girl…..
she’s not overly keen on Lego
enjoys arts and crafts and making things
but too old for dolls and stuff like that

I want to get some fun things, not just clothes and skincare 😱

would love some suggestions
thanks in advance

Aquabeads sets have been popular with my 9year old, also year 6’s in her school have been keen on fimo/jewellery making sets. Or a beginner sewing machine /knitting set?

At that age (depending on budget) she might also like an experience type gift like tickets to see a show/ something at the theatre, or a craft class?

Hama beads

My elder daughter liked the Klutz clay sets at that age (around £13). Which is a useful reminder to me as DD2 is nearly 10…

They both also really like a big box of Hey Clay to make their own creations with. I also like it, no mesh, no smell (I hated play doh on those grounds!!)

BadgerFace · 29/10/2025 05:55

Also clay bracelet making kits were popular in DD1’s year at that age.

Yes agree the clay beads bracelet sets were hugely popular with my dc and friends at that age.

Does she play Roblox? She is at the right age and Roblox vouchers light up any kids' eyes :-)

Lidlisthebusiness · 29/10/2025 13:29

The Eugy animal kits are good. Even my mid teen still like them and they're so cute once completed!

Logged in to post this exact thread even down to the not being too keen on Lego OP so thank you! Some brilliant ideas.

My 10yo DD is getting into her own music now, the only things she has asked for is a guitar, a merch item from her favourite band and she did also ask for a slim set a while ago for her autumn birthday.

She also likes a lot of the stuff you would find in Claire's still, and also is really into Anime and likes the kind of stuff you would buy in HMV or Menkind.

Oh and I had never heard of them before the MN Christmas threads, but we got her some Posca pens for her recent autumn birthday and they went down really well!

If it's hair clips, then I would also check out Home Bargains for cheaper stocking fillers. The flower claw clips have been popular in my daughter's school and I found home bargains selling these for 99p, in Claire's I think they were £6 and likely to be of a similar quality.

Home bargains is also great for other stocking fillers like bath bombs, hair brush, sweets/chocolates.

one of those two/three tier trollies and fill it with craft bits and pieces?

It would depend on the individual place whether they would accept someone that young but in most places around the UK you can now have a blow your own glass bauble experience for between £30 and £40 and its really good fun and really safe. I have booked them in three separate places for work team experiences and in my experience what you actually get to do varies widely but basically you will always get to pick colours, help gather glass and roll it in the colour, and then blow down the tube to inflate the bauble. Its always fun and everyone always feels really proud of themselves and I wish I had done something like that as a child!

If that sounds too much, flying tiger do a bauble decorating kit!

FountainofTruth · 29/10/2025 18:36

As @AuntieDen mentioned 3 tier trolley (ikea or hobby craft) filled with materials big hit with our 9yr old dgd. It was filled with bits from the works (card kits, papers, washy tape, stapler, hole punch etc.
Other ideas:
Kindle
Echo pop
Jellycats
Watch like fit bit or tikkers
Tickets depending on interests be it theatre, cappybara experience, harry potter tour etc.
