Table decorations!

Hi!

Last year I decided it would be nice to make some favours for the Christmas table. I made some lovely wreaths using Lindt chocs, cellophane and ribbon. Really simple, but took me most of December as I needed 15!

The expectation (by others, and myself!) is that I will do similar this year, so I wondered if anyone does similar and fancies sharing your plans please?! Bonus points if they can be adapted for 2 toddlers (as in, I could add in a hot wheel car or two…!)

I know I could just get some cellophane bags and be done with it, but I took real pride in making something last year and would love something different for this Christmas!

thanks so much!

I saw but haven’t yet bought some lovely Christmas cardboard houses (Google on that and some hits will come up) that you can fill with sweets. Miniatures, lottery tickets etc.
Or simply a Lindt bunny for the adults and Santa for the kids.
When the DC were little, I made them a chocolate Santa sleigh bundle (search Google on that too) -

Two candy canes glue gunned into a heart? Two candy canes made into a sleigh with a as mini chocolate Santa on top? Hand made shortbread decorated individually with line and fill icing, personal for each guest? The options are endless. If is not necessarily food related then you could easily do hand sewn felt decorations with beads etc.

I sometimes do homemade crackers - I buy the snaps from Amazon along with the paper hats - I take jokes from the internet and print out and I put a small gift inside - in the past I've done

Women/girls: lip balm or lipstick, Christmas earrings or brooch, bracelet, hair clip or mini scrunchie, keyring,

Men/boys: small car, or those wind up toys from tiger or similar, nail clippers, keyring, usb charging cable (for DS who must eat them he goes through so many)

Op, your chocolate wreaths sound fab, do you have any pics?

MrsSuu · 28/10/2025 18:35

I created personalised crackers. I got personalised names from Etsy and then went to Hotel Chocolat and purchased mini bottles of alcohol and popped them inside the crackers. The children got little chocolates or small gifts. Could also do the same with mini perfumes or other mini alcohol sets. So much better than what’s in normal crackers.

We decorated some brown paper bags to look like houses, with simple gifts inside. Took a while but was quite relaxing to do one at a time over a few weeks.

@Fushia123 they look fantastic 😍

I got a bunch of mini honey pots and tied them in Christmassy cellophane and tied with ribbon. Quick and cheap. I’ve also bought ornaments for each place and attached place cards. Not sure about toddlers, though you could use felted animal ornaments.

Do you have a photo of what you made last year? I'd love to see it.

Have a look on Pinterest. Plenty of ideas there.

You can make simple Christmas favours like:

  • 🎁 Candy sleighs — use candy canes, chocolates, and tie with ribbon (add a small Hot Wheels car for kids).
  • 🍫 Hot chocolate cones — fill a piping bag with cocoa, marshmallows, and tie with ribbon.
  • 🌲 Mini jars — fill small jars with sweets or small toys.

There’s a woman on YouTube called Pootles who has hundreds of tutorials for making little gift boxes and table favours. For most of them you’d need cardstock and/or patterned paper, plus some sort of paper trimmer with a scoring blade/ scoreboard.

I’d also love to see the wreaths from last year!

I made air dry clay decorations last year. A different pattern per guest.

I tried to add photos last night, but apparently they were too large! I didn’t design them though, so you can see exactly the same if you do a search.

I will try and add a photo though!

Annoyingly, I can’t add my own photo, but this is very similar - I just used different coloured Lindt balls. Pretty simple and looked so lovely on the table!
