All Inclusive holiday abroad over Christmas?

Have you? Would you? Where would be warm enough?

I hate Christmas, I always find it stressful dealing with my family. I'd love to just go away and say that whoever wants to come can come and anyone else can't bloody moan at our choice!

Yes ! Went to Mexico. Highly recommend it.

I've been to the Grand Cayman for Christmas, the Carribbean is perfwct at that time of year, we didn't do AI so we barbecued on the beach. There are some fabulous hotels there though that do amazing food - Ritz, Kimpton, Westin etc.

The first time we went on a cruise round the Caribbean from Barbados. Ever since we’ve just stayed in Barbados - it’s fantastic. I think Christmas at home is very overrated, but as a holiday abroad somewhere warm it’s fantastic!

Caribbean looks amazing - so expensive though 😫

Anyone been to the Canaries / Egypt / Turkey for Christmas?

Yes - we’re off to Morocco for a week over the Christmas period

Friends went to Lanzarote last year on Boxing Day and had wonderful weather (cardigan in the eve)

DH & I went to Egypt for Christmas before DC came along (years ago). We spent 7 nights scuba diving & snorkelling. Warm days & evenings needed a light sweater. I’ve holidayed in the Caribbean & Sri Lanka at Christmas too, both lovely. We’d fly Christmas Eve as my work was manic up to Christmas, we did fly Christmas Day once which was great to & cheaper. Always come back refreshed.

We did Egypt for Christmas in 2019. It was wonderful. Weather during the day was 20-25, pool was heated (waterpark wasn't though!). Evenings were cooler - could still sit outside but needed a cardi/coat. Xmas Eve was their big celebration - a Santa parade with all the animation teams joining up during the day and a big gala dinner in the evening with entertainment and finishing with fireworks. We spent Xmas day on the beach and had pizza for lunch!

DD was 13 then - we took smaller presents with us and battery operated fairy lights that we hung on the balcony. I even managed to persuade a manager to lend me a pot plant (like a rubber tree thing) that I put in the balcony and surprised her with presents under it on Xmas day!

I loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I just love this place, such a range of activities including a great ‘health centre’ for luxurious treatments.

not cheap but really very good value

Spent most christmas/new year abroad over last 30 years. Tenerife is great or if you want something further afield anywhere in caribbean.

I have a friend who goes to Morocco every Christmas, she says it hot enough to still swim in the outdoor pools. It’s only about a four hour flight too!

HelloCheekyCat · 03/11/2025 09:52

How about a Canaries/Madeira cruise? Not quite all inclusive but the food will be better than your average hotel, and you get to see multiple places.

We did this itinerary in Feb half term and the weather was plenty hot enough! P&O are really easy as well because you book it all as a package, just rock up at the airport and everything is handled.

We once went to Cuba for Christmas. It was relatively good value then - I don’t know about now…

Cuba would be amazing, but makes it difficult to travel to the USA (if you’re wanting to, that is) as you’d then need a Visa because you wouldn’t be eligible for the Esta.

One day when I’m able to l plan to go away for Christmas and I would choose either the Caribbean or Canary Islands.

Chewbecca · 03/11/2025 10:05

All depends what you mean by 'warm enough'?

At the time, we were in the habit of visiting my sister in the US every 2 or 3 years, no problem, but this was before ESTAs. I suppose we needed to have some sort of US visa, but can’t remember details now. Cuba was only just properly opening up for tourism. Both DDs were doing Spanish GCSE/A level so it was a good opportunity for them to practise, too!

Yes been to Tenerife and Morocco and would do it again in a heartbeat but I have elderly parents and feel too guilty.

I think if you went years ago it’s fine, it’s only after visiting in 2021 or something. I would like to visit Cuba one day, but don’t want to have to faff around with visas for the US. Still love visiting the US despite the current shitshow of an administration!

We've given thought to go on an all inclusive rail journey to Switzerland. I can't get my head around going somewhere warm for Christmas, it was bad enough going to Antigua early December. It threw me right off
