Hi I’m taking part in the dunelm delivering joy.
one of the children age 7 has asked for a drum set I’m unsure if I should get a proper drum kit or an electric one that’s much smaller, what do you guys think ?

That's a tricky one as you don't know the child's circumstances. I'd say nothing too big and nothing that needs batteries (might never be replaced) but everything that might fit the bill might be a bit young for a 7 year old. I think I'd have to speak to the store rep who organises it and see if they have any further info that might help make a choice.

Electric so it can be used with headphones.😁

WilfredsPies · 22/10/2025 14:06

If you can find one with a charging plug rather than batteries, I’d go with the smaller electric one. Even better if it has a port for earphones so he doesn’t disturb anyone else (noise will be an issue if he’s living in HA accommodation as the quality of soundproofing is non existent - they won’t need a noise complaint on top of money issues!)

What’s your budget? Maybe we can help you find something?

That's an unusual request. It could mean anything from a full kit to toy drums.

I would see if you can get any more specific info.

i don’t mind spending roughly £100 I only picked up this tag because I thought it would be costly, the charity wasn’t on the tag but I might go in tomorrow and see if they can give me anymore information

Something like this?

£100 will pretty much get you nowhere for an actual kit, acoustic or electronic but you could get a practice pad.

I fundraise to help kids get into music and donate to charities providing musical instruments so I absolutely applaud what you are doing.

If you go in, whoever is organising the Delivering Joy for that store is usually able to give a little more info. How kind of you!

Hi I know this isn't related as you are buying gifts which i highly admire but would anyone know how you would be able to write a tag?

Comefromaway · 19/11/2025 14:35

In my area the tags are requested via various local charities and community groups. So the one I did was for a local school who I assume had identified children in need who attend their school. Others were from a care home and a children's hospital and others were clients of a homeless charity or a Foodbank.

Each Dunelm branch has a community facebook group and I saw several messages on there from organisations about how they could request tags for people they work with.
