Gluten free Christmas desserts

Morning! My children (10-13years old) are coeliac. For a couple of years, I’ve bought an M&S GF chocolate Yule log. First year, it was DELICIOUS. So much so, I bought 3 last year to tide them over the Christmas period. However, last years were awful; really dry and just not worth the £10 each price!

Ive looked at M&S again and, would you believe it, they’ve upped the price to £15(!) a Yule log.

Is anyone able to recommend a really nice GF chocolate Yule log, or any chocolate GF dessert, that would appeal to kids / pre teens? I don’t want them missing out, but I can’t find anything that sounds nice for a decent price!

The Tesco free from Yule log is really nice! Preferred it to the M&S one!

Thank you all so much for the fab ideas! Going to ask my DC which they would like to buy / make and give it a go before Christmas 🙂

If you like baking definitely invest in a Becky Excell cookbook or two, as others have said. We've not had anything turn out badly yet and my DD has cooked/baked loads from her books. And I completely agree with the PP about her Yorkshire puddings, work every time and are better than normal ones!

My DD is coeliac and the highest praise comes from her brothers when they tuck in and she gets 'wow! Wouldn't know it's gluten free!'

We miss her baking when she's at uni.....😂

@frugalkitty would you recommend any Becky Excell book in particular? MIL is recently diagnosed as gluten intolerant so I’m in the market for some new cook books.

Fabulous, thanks. Hopefully we can adapt our usual Christmas dinner and make it mostly gluten free.

Lidl did gluten free chocolate coated ice cream stars last year which were really nice and light, and a g/f roulade which I didn't try so can't comment on. Maybe not what you had in mind but when their 2025 menu isn out have a look.

Thank you for all the tips it's really hard and annoying that they make gluten-free specific products double the price!

I saw a gluten free lemon tart on TikTok but I can't remember where it was 😭that is my favourite dessert so if anyone sees on let me know 😆
DD usually just has some Celebrations or a Magnum but this year I am also GF and I would have loved a lemon tart!
Becky Excell's Budget Gluten Free book is really good too.
