I have 10 year old twins (Year 5). One recently found out from friends that Santa isn't real. He is ready to stop believing and is not particularly affected by knowing the truth. He declared at the dinner table that he knows it's not us and my other boy heard the whole story. My other boy is still in the magical childhood phase.

They don’t have any siblings so I can't say that we have to keep the magic alive for a younger sibling.

How do I do the presents? No more writing their letters. They usually have a stocking and a couple of presents from Santa, then a couple from us and a couple from grandparents.

Letters become lists. Stockings still happen, I just get the credit I deserve it as DH does nothing. Like an idiot I still stay up to pop it in her room when she falls asleep.

I take my DD to Dunelm as they have a gifting tree and she picks a present to buy, wrap and take back for someone in need. We also choose books for a local childrens charity.

We do an experience instead of Santa. This year we are on an illuminated train, last year Elf the musical.

We still pretend it's Santa. The DC are 17 and 13 - and pretty switched on so they found out years ago, but we still play the game, because it's fun. Just with more knowing comments!

I mean my mum still does a stocking for all of us if we come stay for Christmas and I'm in my 50s!

Just keep the magic going but you don’t need to obviously do what you did before. They write a list but who knows what they’ll get? Presents still get wrapped (or not if you don’t), stockings still get done if you do them. Don’t ask them to help you in choosing, everything is still a huge surprise. Worst thing I ever heard was a lady telling me as soon as they all knew there were no presents, her child was only 11

just keep going...

traditions don't have to be "real" to be meaningful or fun. Movies and books aren't real, but they are still fun, video game stories aren't real but we still enjoy playing them. etc.

Christmas stays pretty much the same, but instead of Santa giving presents it is now "santa" that gives presents... a fun story/make-believe that you all play along with, and join in with.
