Any ideas of what to buy my DGS 6 and 4 for Christmas? They are going to Aus so no huge presents allowed

Are they emigrating or just going over Christmas?

If the later, then I would personally save their presents till after the trip.

I am in Aus. Could you buy them an experience for whilst they are here eg. Trip to a Zoo with an experience to get up close to Koalas? Otherwise some spending money to get themselves something on their trip, maybe some small card games that they can use at the airport or little travel games.

We went away one year for Christmas when kids were 5 and 4, and my XH forgot DDs main present… my lovely friend wrapped it, put it in front of the fireplace and sent me a pic. We printed it out with a note from Santa to say he’d taken it to the wrong house so she’d get it when she got home. It also said there might also be a hidden present waiting for DS too! So we kept one of his back and quickly shoved it under the couch when we got home so he ‘found’ it when she was busy unwrapping her big one! They loved it! So you could do something like that - send a wee thing with them with a wee photo of a present that’s waiting for them on their return.

I’d go with spending money or tickets to something local if ok with mum & dad. You could get them some Christmas pyjamas and put them in pyjama bags (the sort that used to be around years ago, like a teddy bear with an empty belly and a zip, or a hot water bottle carrier, and you put the pyjamas in there). That would be flat enough to easily pack, something for them to open and have a cuddle with and a lovely treat, especially if you put it in dollars for them.

I was also going to suggest Christmassy pyjamas that they could wear for the flight. It's a long, long way for little ones and pyjamas are great for being comfortable and encouraging them to sleep a decent amount of the way!

You could do it with a coloring/sticker book or similar for the flight.
