She has just started secondary school. I'm not a parent she's a niece.

Don't see her very often as her parents live some distance away from me.

She liked art for a long time. And now she seems to like graphic art.

She likes KPOP Demon Hunters if that means anything.

She's just started secondary school. I wouldn't want to get her clothes or or anything.Because at that age, they can be quite particular.

Not sure of your budget, but if you look online you can get really lovely quality sets of pencils eg Fabre-Castell, and art pads that are a bit more grown up than perhaps she would usually be given. The pencils are so pretty to look at!

Streatfeild · 08/09/2025 10:33

My dd was beyond thrilled with a Primark voucher at that age

ILoveWhales · 08/09/2025 10:37

Budget is up to £50

Both good ideas thank you.

She may like some ‘how to’ draw anime or manga books which you can get in any good book shop. Posca pens are really lovely for that age and upwards if she likes art.

chipsticksmammy · 08/09/2025 13:52

ASDA had large packs of POSCA pens not that long ago which my arty DD loves.

EatingSleeping · 08/09/2025 14:10

I really like the scribblr art boxes for this age - interesting techniques and products. You could do that and a voucher?

cornbunting · 08/09/2025 15:45

Following for ideas for my daughters... It's so tricky, as neither of them particularly want "stuff", clothes are best left to them to choose themselves. It tends to be books and then I'm stuck for ideas.

ILoveWhales · 08/09/2025 15:57

I got posca lens last year so all out of ideas this time.

Are they into skincare type things? Summer Fridays lip balm is very popular with my girls.

Be warned it’s spendy!

Starface lip balm and spot patches too in be little yellow case go down well too.

Nike or Adidas ankle socks or an Adanola jumper have all gone down well with my girls.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 08/09/2025 18:39

My 11yo is very big on skincare. She’s never been big on toys but always liked art but isn’t really interested in getting more art stuff. Other things she likes

K-Pop demon hunters - there is an official Netflix merch site, it’s not cheap but it’s official. There isn’t much else around unless you look at temu or aliexpress
Jellycats
perfume - anything Sol de Janiro or Sabrina Carpenter for my 11yo DD, my 13yo likes Victoria Secrets and Ariana Grande too.
Jewellery
White Fox is still popular for young teens here.
Funko Pops

Popular skin care and makeup brands - P Louise, Rare Beauty, Summer Fridays, Glow Recipe, Tower 28, Benefits, Byoma, Bubble, Inkey List. There isn’t much a lot more but that’s a start.

I would recommend waiting a bit if you can. Once kids start high school they can change quickly to fit in.

I feel this whole list is what I am buying this Christmas 😂

chipsticksmammy · 08/09/2025 19:45

Also, Lego flowers and plants are cool too with older girls.

candycanesand · 08/09/2025 20:56

I always buy Lego flowers for teens. Got quite a few led light up personalised names from Temu too for around £6 each as gifts. My daughter loves her big flower shaped notice board and funky push pins to pin photos, postcards, scraps of paper on.
Sol de janeiro is super popular. White fox hoodies. Ugg style slipper boots. Oodies. New look vouchers, fairy lights.
Light up make up mirror, ring light that attaches to phone, mini fridge, big box of American snacks.
It's my son I struggle to find things for!

candycanesand · 08/09/2025 20:58

These personalised lights. In fact if you type personalised gifts into Temu all sorts come up. Lights, door signs, jewellery. The teens I know love all that!

Oh, Stanley water bottles too!

greengagesummers · 08/09/2025 22:11

DD is 12. Agree with Jellycat plush toys, Sol de Janeiro, skincare/makeup from Bubble, Laneige, Byoma, Benefit. Bath foam (unbelievably expensive for what it is!) from Sundae. DD was mad pleased with a Sephora voucher earlier this year (they have an online site). She’s a bit meh on the Lego flowers but she loves the expensive double-ended Japanese marker pens which have a brush on one end and a marker on the other - I think the brand she has is Ohuhu.

Oh yes and the Stanley cups, but DD says the big ones are going out of fashion so she has the little Stanley water bottle/flask which is about £32 and fits better in her school bag anyway.

Any excuse to buy Jelly Cat. Im guessing not the Christmas themed ones. Maybe amuseables?

Yes they generally love the amuseables, especially the pastry, cheese, fruit and drinks-themed ones.

EveChristmas · 09/09/2025 07:05

i have 15, 13 and 11 yr old girls and all I can say is go with the ladies suggesting the brand skin care and jellycat. A jellycat with a laneige lip set would be perfect. I just bought mine the s’more flavoured set for Christmas

My girls love the pink & white marshmallows or any of the fruit. They also both have a few frog. They do them as toys and key chains that can be attached to school bags.

OneCleverPinkFawn · 09/09/2025 12:54

Something with a KPOP Demon Hunters logo on one of the characters on it? Or you can get her a poster with the scene from it (here is how you can make one yourself)
Tickets to a museum or an showshe would enjoy attending
DIY kits like accessories or plushie
A cute backpack maybe?
Washable hairspray or glitter
Set of lip balms
If she's into digital art, you can get her subscriptions to photo editing or video editing apps
For graphic art you can get her a gift card to a local store with products of that kind, or a nice sketchbook
Her favorite snacks or just a box of unusual snacks in general

JadziaD · 09/09/2025 13:03

Well, good to see that Year 6 DD is in line with the trends. OP, agree with all the above.

If you do want to go arty, I woudl find a good quality art shop and buy a few things that are not the quick and easily accessilbe stuff they can buy on the high street. High quality sketch pads (with the thick paper) can be really good, and are quite expensive so not usually accessible for every day.

I find they like any facemask but I do try to check that there's nothing more hardcore than a bit of hylaronic acid in any I get DD or her friends. Superdrug often does discount deals so you can pop one or two in with whatever else you give her.

DD is a bit younger (10 - year 6) but absolutely LOVES her Jellycat bag. I'm not sure if that is appropriate for someone already in high school though.

Also vouchers or money are hugely appreciated by mine. DD loves Zara and Primark.

ILoveWhales · 09/09/2025 13:49

Thanks so much all of you , some wonderful ideas.

I might get the jelly cat marshmallows quickly as they seem popular.

Hi, I'm looking at the marshmallows now but actually there are 2 versions. The ordinary version and the christmas winter version where they have earmuffs on

Do you think the plain version will be more appreciated?
