Does anyone have some alternatives to a Xmas tree that would work to give a similar twinkly cost happy feeling in the home?

I have battery candles on a timer from lights4fun and flowers. I know what you mean: January is so bleak compared with the lights and charm of Christmas

I have yet to take my tree with twinkle lights down….

Honestly, I've been thinking the same! We've only got the big light and I'm not a big light person. I'm either going to buy a lamp and a stand or hopefully find an amazing suggestion on this thread.

<screams in fear> but the bad luck!!!

I've got some pretty star fairy lights up that me and dd have decided are staying.

daisydaisyrose · 10/01/2025 22:00

And some battery operated candles

My daughter got me this from Homebase. It’s a “ birch tree”. I love it. You can also use it outside

I put all my Christmas tree lights squished up into a cut glass bowl. It's like Christmas condensed into a big shimmery ball.

It’s fine to leave them up til Candlemas (Feb 2nd).

Oof! I like the idea but I'm not sure I can get on board after a lifetime of Jan 6th.

I have fairy lights around my kitchen all year round!!! I love them.

verycloakanddaggers · 11/01/2025 07:19

Leave up small lights and do something decorative specifically for January so you are moving on to something else nice rather than putting Christmas away?

Fmlright · 11/01/2025 07:23

I have kept some fairy lights on our sideboard for a couple of years now that were originally up for Christmas. They bring a lovely warm glow to our living room! I also have some Harry Potter candles hanging from the ceiling but I know that’s a bit niche 😄

Free yourself, my tree is coming down tomorrow, I hate the bare look and was delighted a few years ago when I found this out on here 😂

I’m all for it!
Just added some fairy lights to a little tree from IKEA next to our living room fireplace and also draped them in the hearth to make it look more cosy (non working fire unfortunately)
I also have left a little Xmas tree in the conservatory with lights on - I just took the baubles off. I have no shame - it’s lovely to see sparkly lights in midwinter.
Thinking about streaming some more over the mantelpiece above our cooker - DH thinks I’ve gone mad 😂

It’s a great time of year to get on board with what the Danish people call Hygge. Lights, candles, hot chocolate, fireplaces….important for wellbeing and you absolutely don’t need an excuse! ❤️

Mistressofnone · 12/01/2025 18:02

I have a vase with some of those fairy light twigs in and have bought some new string lights to hang over the fireplace. They're filling a tree-shaped hole!

JMAngel1 · 12/01/2025 20:03

So much cosier tonight with these fairy lights - got to get our comforts wherever we can get them from in this weather.
