I forgot swede and washing up liquid.

I'm not venturing anywhere near another shop now though. I'm so done!

Bring on Christmas!

Chutney for the cheese board...

I will have to get some today, or Christmas is ruined!

DH makes it so I hadn't even thought about that one....but you've just made me realise he hasn't made any this year 🤔

We've got pickles cornichons and baby onions and Branston so that'll have to do for us

I meant to get some pork pies from the local farm shop but forgot 🙈

Too late now as no way am I going to a shop tomorrow. We have plenty of other stuff to eat.

Not a food I would associate with Christmas!

Dips for the Pringles here too but I am off to Marks and Spencer to pick up my beef joint later so will hopefully get some today. There are another couple of things on my list in the kitchen but I can’t recall what they are.

Fill them with Xmas forfeits like washing up, hoovering, emptying the kitchen bin. Then you won't have to do anything!

Genius!!! 🤣

Iliketulips · 24/12/2024 07:30

Just going out for our final bits and pieces. Luckily it all seems to be on the list, just hope I don't forget to pick whatever up instore!

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 24/12/2024 07:50

I'm actually OK but we're out for lunch later in a village with a good size Tesco Express so I'll send a message out on the street WhatsApp group and no doubt be sent an eclectic mix of items that people have forgotten. The group has already been quite busy for the past couple of days as people are making things and realise they're missing something.

Needanewname42 · 24/12/2024 07:50

That's genuis brilliant idea.

I did my big shop on Sunday and was in Tesco twice yesterday I'm still without jam. Thankfully the basket checkout wasn't too busy.

Justmuddlingalong · 24/12/2024 08:14

Just realised I've forgotten the goose fat for the roasties.
DP says he'll pop down to sainsburys for it.
I loves his naivety. 😆

Do you not just have 50 million mince pies in your house already? I start eating mince pies from about September 30th!!

I am weird as I bloody love mince pies in the build up to Christmas but can’t bear the thought of them Christmas Day/Boxing Day.

We had some when we decorated the tree but that was a couple of weeks ago! Every year I forget to buy an extra pack to put away for Santa.

Giant aluminium foil roasting trays for the turkeys!

MissAmbrosia · 24/12/2024 10:16

Parsnips. Been out for some this morning though.

Stephenkingsbiggestfan · 24/12/2024 10:21

Stuffing but it makes me proper fart so probably for the best

Jasnah · 24/12/2024 10:54

Bread. I have none in the house and not enough flour to bake some. Breakfasts and lunches will be an adventurous lot.

ballyhoomara · 24/12/2024 11:09

We live rurally - picked up click and collect order yesterday - got home to find 14 items missing - they forgot to bring out 2 baskets. DH had to drive back and we lost nearly 2 jours grrrt

Cmq · 24/12/2024 11:15

Double cream (Aldi didn’t have) and tinfoil.

MamaWeasel · 24/12/2024 11:40

Greek yoghurt for Naans on Christmas eve and a bottle of beer as part of a gift. Went back out to get them and got asked for ID for the beer (I'm 37 and haven't been asked in years!) so still don't have beer!!

Can I have your naan recipe please? Never found one that works well

CandiedPrincess · 24/12/2024 12:09

Cream cheese for the blinis.

We're going to my parents so didn't have to do a massive food shop. I'm making a couple of sides though and I couldn't get normal double cream, only Elmlea but it's for a smoked fish pate so I don't think it'll be noticeable at least. Couldn't get caster sugar for my meringue either but our local shop should have some so not too bad.

In an emergency, you can crush granulated sugar with a rolling pin to make it finer. Put it in a plastic bag and roll it.

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 24/12/2024 12:14

Or you can blitz it in a processor. If you do this for long enough you will end up with icing sugar, in case anyone forgot that and needs it!

Double cream (Aldi didn’t have) and tinfoil.

We've skipped the cream this year. We have brandy cream to go with our pud or custard instead but mostly for the kids, that one!

Tonic! I'm going back in a bit

caringcarer · 24/12/2024 13:32

Double cream which is odd because I thought I'd got it but it's not in fridge. I popped out to get some and saw fresh turkey crowns half price so now I've got one for my freezer.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 23/12/2024 22:21

Cheeslets. Or the tree shaped ones. We did eat the whole tub id bought so I was supposed to pick up another today and completely forgot.

They are so moreish aren't they?
