I know I've left it till the last minute and I should no doubt have this all sorted by now but I haven't and I really need some inspiration.

This year there'll be 6 of us it's usually 4 and one needs everything halal someone please help.

I don't mind if I have to do different things I'm just all out of ideas.

We have an Iranian breakfast. Watermelon, Iranian bread (could use pitta too) feta and basil leaves. It’s light and delicious, perfect before a massive Xmas lunch!

Do you make Iranian bread? I love the stuff but the take away costs a fortune.

Do you have a recipe?

Bake at home pastries, which smell amazing on Christmas morning! Fresh orange juice and apple juice, teapot of strong tea and Bucks Fizz!

We do make barbari normally, but too much to do to make fresh at Xmas! We have a lovely Iranian shop nearby so have bought it there 😊
It is the most delicious bread ever. I could eat tonnes of it 😁

I use Cooking with Ayeh website for recipes.

We usually have: croissants, pancakes, scrambled egg, bacon (you can swap for smoked salmon if everyone likes that?), fruit platter, coffee and OJ. Not incl the Buck's Fizz I drink while setting this all up.

We buy the frozen 'bake at home' croissants as they're so lovely fresh (the Pret ones are my favourite!) but you could get packaged ones in the bakery section. This year I also bought buttermilk pancakes already made (at M&S) as the morning goes by in such a rush that I've learnt if I do a lot for breakfast then I'm stressed out playing catch up with the main meal etc.

Yum, I'm with you! To be fair the Persian flatbreads from Ocado are really lovely and freeze nicely too - I have a million one with hummus, tzatziki, hot honey, pomegranate seeds and halloumi. I am dribbling just typing it!

@evtheria we are also having pret bake from frozen croissants! Along with olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese, smoked salmon, cream cheese, dill and dippy eggs. Bit of an odd combination but we'll all have a lie-in and that will keep us going till the big Christmas lunch.

We are having cereal and bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese with Buck's Fizz

mitogoshigg · 24/12/2024 13:51

Sourdough bread thickly sliced topped with spinach wilted in butter, slices of smoked salmon and cream cheese. If you have any vegetarians, sliced pan fried portobello mushrooms is a good alternative to the salmon and use olive oil instead of butter if vegan and vegan cream cheese. It's delicious and decadent though not necessarily that expensive if you buy in Lidl but can be higher end if you buy bakers bread and artisan smoked salmon. To really impress a tiny amount of caviar to garnish, or dill if mere mortals Grin

We used to have orange juice, crossiants and strong coffee. No one has been fussed about that though for 2/3 years - I've asked them if they want me to get anything else, but all seem quite happy with their usual breakfast. So cereals, I know need to be careful what I eat so orange juice and crossiants would be a 'no' - I'll probably have greek yogurt and berries, maybe porridge.
