I'm not at work until Christmas day. So am getting up early tomorrow and getting to the supermarket as it opens. Am off after 3 Christmas day so we're having din then

Just need to set my alarm and make sure I don't snooze.

Just hoping it isn't rammed?

Yep, Christmas food shop at 5am ahead of work at 7.30am 😳

Lossyfloss · 22/12/2024 23:12

Yep! I'm hitting Tesco at about 6.30am then waitrose when it opens at 7.30. My husband is staying home with our 4 year old and getting through some jobs.

Then I'll be home to unpack, have a fresh pain au choc for my efforts and back to bed for a sleep!

I love Christmas.

MoonKiss · 22/12/2024 23:19

My husband’s going to get most stuff we need (hopefully) at M&S first thing tomorrow, and we’ll be near Booths at tea time so will nip in for some proper posh bits.

There was a queuing system at M&S today around lunchtime, with around 40 people waiting outside to get into the food hall. Hoping it’s quieter in the morning!

blibblibs · 22/12/2024 23:20

I need to l the big shop tomorrow but DH is driving so we won't be up early to do it. Have an appt at 12 so needs done before then.
I so wish I'd already done it and could just open the fridge and see it all there 😔

leia24 · 22/12/2024 23:21

I've got a lash appointment at 7am so will be up at 6

APurpleSquirrel · 22/12/2024 23:26

DH is heading to the butchers at 7am to get our meat order.
I'm working tomorrow but will need to head to a supermarket for some last minute fresh bits - hoping my boss will let me leave early, but if not it'll be at teatime.

evtheria · 22/12/2024 23:26

Yes - 3am!!! Only because DP will get up for work that time, and I always wake up hearing him. Should really be asleep now, if I know what's good for me...

declutteringonedayatatime · 22/12/2024 23:28

I will be up early to shower then take the cats to the cattery for their Christmas visit. I have to be on the midday train to home so hopefully there is not much traffic around at that time of the morning.. especially since it seems like everyone is going to be shopping at 3am lol.

TwinkleLights24 · 22/12/2024 22:03

I’m not rushing up. I think most will go to the shops early so I’ll be going early to mid afternoon for a few fresh bits.

I think you may be right. I went to the supermarket this afternoon 2pm ish. I commented to the lady on the till that it was quieter than I expected. Apparently it was crazy in there this morning.

But.. some items I needed were sold out so I'm going earlier tomorrow to a different one to get the last bits. But not first thing! Cba

Went food shopping today because teen blithely announced that 10 mates coming over and would probably need to eat...Car park rammed at opening time but surprisingly few people actually in the store. For the most part, everyone was chilled and pleasant - bar the people whose SOs were ‘helping’ with the Christmas shop and making a dogs breakfast of it. You know the ones , putting random stuff in the trolley and completely stressing out the person with the carefully prepared list/menu/budget with unsolicited advice on the above.
I had a lovely chat with a bloke who'd succumbed to the group panic mindset and accidentally walked off with my trolley instead of his own. Pretty easy to track him down. He’d come to a dead stop in aisle 3 trying to work out why he’d apparently collected enough food for a small army ( aka teenage boys) cat food and tampons. It was the cat food that really threw him.
Merry Christmas!!

I'm up, tesco opens at 7 so I'm just having a quick cuppa ☕️ I noticed it's opening at 5 tomorrow so hoping the crowds wait until then 😂

Kibble29 · 23/12/2024 06:54

Smugly, I’m already back. 😎

LushLemonTart · 23/12/2024 08:01

I'm back. 2nd in queue. Apparently they were queuing from 3.30 at Asda? I got through the till easily. Think I got everything? If not tough 🤣

I got to Tesco at 6.30 and then waitrose for opening at 7.30. Both were very busy!

Home and off for a sleep now. Merry Christmas!

Boxalot · 23/12/2024 10:20

Got to Tesco Extra at 8am and it was fine. Maybe about as busy as a normal Saturday morning. Some very bleary-looking shoppers and a mix of those looking excited or terrified!

TeamPolin · 23/12/2024 11:31

@LushLemonTart
Probably up at normal time. But can I just take this opportunity to say 'crack of a sparrow's fart' is the phrase best thing I've heard in ages GrinGrinGrin

TeamPolin · 23/12/2024 11:32

Or even 'best thing I've heard in ages' (apologies for gibberish.)

LushLemonTart · 23/12/2024 12:14

I went back to bed. Got up 11ish. I'll feel crap now I always do when I go back. I couldn't resist 🙈

I went back to bed too Lemon. We're both still recovering from a nasty bug but fortunately my sister's doing the cooking and we just need to provide dessert which this year is courtesy of M&S so that's us sorted.

Peridot1 · 23/12/2024 12:26

We were out, had breakfast in a nice cafe, did Waitrose, took a return back to New Look and were home by 10.30.

Turkey crown is smaller than I was expecting. Might end up getting another.

Zoomo · 23/12/2024 12:36

I did a trip to M&S food hall at 9.45am to pick up some last bits. Car park was a bit manic but it wasn't too horrific in the shop. Home by 11am. That's it, no more! Yay 😁

Iliketulips · 23/12/2024 13:09

I'll probably get up around 6-6.30pm, and go out quite soon after that. Am wondering whether to get a few things on foot later on as the car has gone in for repair and needs to be kept overnight, so going to be heavy to carry everything.
