Too young for an 8/9 year old?

I think these are beautiful and am wondering if my friend’s son would like a set - maybe the glow in the dark set?

are they too young?

Not too young but not sure if he’ll like them ? Expensive too. Ask the parents

My 8 year won’t play with them. I don’t think it’s an age thing just an interest thing.

Tailfeather · 20/12/2024 21:38

I don't really know what age would play with them. my son is eight and I think he would find them quite young. They are pretty, but I genuinely don't know what age they are best for.

Biroclicker · 20/12/2024 21:39

My DD (9) would like them but we wouldn't allow them as they're a choking hazard for her sibling.

Girasoli · 20/12/2024 21:39

Does he have a marble run? I don't know any DC that play with marbles just by themselves but quite a few that like marble runs (and would like marbles for them).

Have to admit that marbles freak me out because I have a very vivid memory of putting one in my mouth and it almost getting lodged in my throat 😬- I wasn't even that young, prob around 9 or 10. Have absolutely no idea why I put one in my mouth!

HolyMoly24 · 20/12/2024 21:45

I think that brand is more of a collectors item than to be played with. I think I'd only buy if I already knew he had an interest in them.

Girasoli · 20/12/2024 21:47

I agree marbles are tricky because often a child the ages (6-8?) to enjoy them will have a younger sibling who might try to eat them. Then by the time the younger sibling is older, the older sibling may have outgrown marbles.

Beautiful but I would really worry about choking which I know sounds OTT but kids do such stupid, impulsive things. My own have put some things in their mouth for absolutely no reason, one was a double A battery that almost got lodged in his throat!! He was definitely old enough to know a lot better!!
