Present for a young 80 year old

My mum is pushing 80 but doesn't want to be considered old, past it, fuddy-duddy type thing.

She loves gardening, TV, movies, elvis, her home, being warm...

Last year I got her a heated soft blanket which was such a hit. I can't think what to get her this year!

Help. What to get a young 80 year old?!

Subscription to gardeners world magazine? Nat trust membership?

I got my MIL a Lemon Tree last year it was about 3 ft high but had big lemons on it was from a local garden centre which went down really well.

Sun dial, bird bath or bird table for the garden.

Depending on where you live, a day trip to somewhere like Wisley. Or a weekend in London with a trip to Kew Gardens.

A subscription to a TV channel that she doesn't have. If she watches something like ITV+, an upgrade to the version without ads.

A posh afternoon tea.

I have received one of those. Unfortunately, I managed to kill it, but the fault was with me! It was great present, and have since seen orange trees for sale at my garden centre too.

Mine is 90 but similarly young in outlook. If she has also reached a point where if she fancies something she buys it for herself so it is really hard. I generally buy her a sweater or something as she loves clothes and luckily we have similar taste. What she really loves though is that I do her a stocking - usually with a book, some soaps, a particular type of christmas decoration she likes, sweets, etc.

She also loves gardening but couldn't manage a major garden outing any more. But a voucher and a hard copy catalogue from somewhere like Parkers or a more specialist nursery would go down well. I generally leave live plants for Mothers' Day. Live plants in December, particularly tender ones, are a bit a chore. Don't do it unless you are an expert.

Lime, or olives?

Genus gardening trousers. Best thing I've ever discovered after 40years of gardening. Recommended by (among others) Bunny Guinness.
