Inspired by another Lapland thread, so as the title says, ask me anything. And yes, i'm obviously a real elf 😉

@MrsSunshine2b You clothing sounds good and the suits provided by those package tours are excellent. I'd say you need to wear multiple layers of socks inside your boots though, and try to have socks of different fabric, e.g. wool sock, cotton sock on top, another wool sock on top. The different layers help keep the heat on the foot.
And take some of these hand warmers to keep in your pockets/gloves/boots - these are in Boots but you can buy in lots of places. I find these to be a life saver (well, a finger saver!) as I'm constantly taking my glove off to photograph things.

Yes, we'll get some of those. I've heard cotton socks are not good in the cold?

We have bamboo socks so could wear thinner bamboo socks, thicker merino wool socks and the socks provided by the company?

@MrsSunshine2b tbh I wear cotton socks all winter, with woolly socks over the top if its cold and unless it's colder than -20 my feet don't get cold

Sorry to jump on an old thread but we go to Rovaniemi at the weekend. I am really unsure of taking pushchair? DH says it won't be good in the snow but it is an all terrain (does not have air filled tyres though) now thinking I need to get some kind of toddler carrier if not taking pushchair? Can anyone who has been advise?

I can't speak for Rovaniemi specifically but most paths in Finland are cleared of snow regularly and gritted so pushchairs and wheelchairs can get down them, and every footpath in a town will be. Definitely take the pushchair

If it doesn't have big air filled tyres then you will struggle with it except on gritted pavements (even then it can be a pain)

Natsku · 17/11/2025 18:35

Sledges are excellent toddler carriers though, if you're able to borrow one when you're there

Thanks for the replies ☺️ I think I'll take it for around Rovaniemi town centre but won't take for SKV.
