Help please! Have gone away for Christmas and left the presents for my friend's kids.

What can I get in the next couple of days? Budget about £10-£20. She hates how cluttered those house is so I was trying to avoid just more 'stuff'

Boy aged 2.5, girl aged 6

Chocolate fondue set from hotel chocolat.

The kids will love it and it is a consumable.

DrFosterWentToGloucester23 · 20/12/2024 12:20

A set of magnetic building blocks/tiles for the 2.5 year old (can get them in the Entertainer/Smyths/Amazon)

Supermarkets have some good gifts for 6 year olds. Mine loved the £10 Disney Princess dolls at that age. Also, craft sets. They are great as the box can be binned when the activity is complete! Sand art, scratch art, mosaic tile craft, bracelet making kits.

Maybe a book each for each child too.

Coffeecoconut · 20/12/2024 12:21

Can you get to a bookshop? Books always go down well even in a busy house. A 6 year old girl might like a step by step how to draw book, or crafts, which are consumables and won’t clutter the house for too long.

My son is 6 and his presents include decorate your ginger biscuits kit (ours is from Tescos but they have them at most major supermarkets I think). I was looking out for the build/decorate a ginger house but couldn't spot it.

Also Mr Frosty and syrups. That depends if your friend is strict about what chemicals they consume!

You could get a voucher for an attraction local to theirs as long as you are sure that they don't already have membership.

My brother bought a yo yo from a petrol station one year at the very last second and it was definitely a favorite gift amongst all the children and especially the recipient

MolkosTeenageAngst · 20/12/2024 13:07

What had you bought them originally? Will you be able to return it or do you plan on giving it to them later? If you can return the forgotten gifts, can you not just try and find the same gifts? If you will give the forgotten gifts at a later date I’d just buy something small, a book or a puzzle or small soft toy, as a gift to open on the day and explain to their parents that you forgot their gifts at home and will post them or give next time you see them.

Silvertulips · 20/12/2024 13:11

Why not an experience instead? No clutter and a fun day out.

bigkidatheart · 20/12/2024 13:21

Clothes

Pollydollydoodle · 20/12/2024 13:35

What had you bought? Can you just re buy and return the originals in the new year.

Leeds2 · 20/12/2024 13:40

Just to say that if you are happy to use Amazon, you can pay £3 (?) which covers a gift bag and postage.
I would choose books, but not sure if that counts as clutter!

modgepodge · 20/12/2024 13:41

Bath bombs are my new go to for consumable non sugary presents!

CCLCECSC · 20/12/2024 13:44

Voucher for local attraction.... farm, play park etc

DeNiroDeFaro · 20/12/2024 14:01

I had made gifts so not replaceable or returnable!

Food gifts are out for allergen reasons and I'm not sure my budget extends to a local attraction but will look.

I buy them books for their birthdays (we go together and choose one, it's a lovely tradition!) but Other ideas are good thank you!

I’d love a cinema gift voucher for my kids. £20 would cover them & me for a few hours out & means no clutter, win win for me.

fallingleavesandhairyknees · 20/12/2024 14:12

Soft play or local farm park voucher is my go gift for children that age.

Emmacb82 · 20/12/2024 14:14

Can you not just get them a token selection box and be honest and say you’ve left them behind? Seems ridiculous to have to buy new ones when you’ve gone to the effort of making them something special. Good friends would understand.

sleepandcoffee · 20/12/2024 14:19

Cinema voucher or something child friendly like Pizza Hut

DeNiroDeFaro · 20/12/2024 14:28

They would understand but the presents were Christmas specific so won't work later! I'll gift them next year.

Cinema is out due to additional needs unfortunately

Pyjamas?

You should have probably included all these caveats in the OP

DeNiroDeFaro · 20/12/2024 14:45

Sorry Blush I was just trying to post quickly

What about a “secret diary” for the girl? You know those sparkly ones with a lock.

Maybe something to wear for the boy.

Jostuki · 20/12/2024 15:30

As the children are going to getting lots of presents from their family, why not buy a chocolate Santa or similar for each child and then post the gifts after Christmas?

birdglasspen2 · 20/12/2024 16:09

Hooded owls does bath bomb potion kits. Try and get ones with just the bath bombs. But that’s online otherwise something similar from a shop. Fun but disappears!
