Cost of the Christmas food shop

I have ordered online. £200. This is a weeks worth of food and our Christmas Dinner wines etc. My usual weekly spend is £130 so don't think it's too bad.

Ours is looking reasonably high:

£80 on M&S Food order for Christmas Day
£60 on our regular Gousto box for our meals the rest of the week
£180 so far in my Ocado basket which will be delivered on the 23rd, but it's only got our weekly basics in so far, so still need to add alcohol, snacks etc for Christmas/Boxing Day. I'm estimating £300 all in.

So £440ish.

Ours is so far very cheap as the supermarkets near us have been doing 8p vegetables and that’s all we’ve got so far. It’ll go right up tomorrow when I do the big shop.

DH spent over £300 in a deli the other day. He justified it by saying it was stuff we couldn't get elsewhere. Oh and it included some stuff I could eat, so about £20 for me and £280 for him and DS. He's currently gone to Aldi to buy some chocolates, despite the fact that he'll be next to an aldi tomorrow and I'll be there on Monday.

He's also ordered 3 different supermarket shops.
Before I get blamed for not cling him out I've told him loads of times but he's very defensive and says it won't go off so he can eat it for months.

Main supermarket shop wasn't too bad but I've just spent £75 on bloody chocolates, and that's one box!
They're very nice, handmade etc but bloody hell!! I'm still reeling!

I've been buying things like pickles, ready made mince pies, soft drinks, a couple of extra bottles of wine over the last month. Our monthly food budget is £200pm, which I load onto a discount card. We've got £5odd left on it, so have topped up £100pm which should do it, as it's basically milk, yogurts, bread, crusty bread, veggies, salad, clementines, chocolate log, sour cream to make a dip, coleslaw, couple of Finest ready meals, maybe some ready made soup and a chocolate log.

So food shop will be a max of £300 this month, DH is a member of a wine club and funds have been building up, so that'll more than cover our drinks. Mostly just the two of us though, three Xmas Day, four Boxing Day evening for meal and five 28th (might have to get some veggies for a chilli then) and knowing us chocolate log won't have been opened. Will probably have to cater on 27th as DH has invited family, but I really wanted to go out for the day or a lunchtime meal (which they could join us with) but no one seems up for that. No way am I planning or cooking. DH hasn't even talked about food, so that'll be interesting.

Already had the turkey (in the freezer) and have lots of food we haven’t cooked from last weekends shopping. Christmas dinner veg, stuffing etc and party food for over Xmas came to £180 in Aldi today. Not too bad. Usual food shop is £140 a week for a family of 6. (2 adults, 3 children and 1 baby.)

£120 in Lidl last night and the 8p veg was looking absolutely revolting , and £50 in Asda for party food for Boxing Day, I’ve still got to get bread sauce, bread, sausages and bacon from the butchers, and some decent veg which I’ll get from the local farm shop and they’re charging £1.50 for a cauliflower and £2.00 for a stalk of sprouts, purely because the supermarket veg wasn’t looking too good!
Not got any alcohol yet and need to find some crackers!
Theres 6 of us on Christmas Day and 12 on Boxing Day!

118 in Lidl last weekend which included normal weekly food and 166 in Tesco to collect tomorrow. So 284 plus the bits purchased over the past month maybe another 50. This doesn't include alcohol. Eight for dinner on the day and extra two people for a week. Will be plenty left to nibble on after Christmas though as I like to have contingency plans.
