Bought the dh a toaster...

Ok. He did say he wanted a toaster (or a new iron). Last year I bought him an ironing board.

Any ideas for a man who doesn't want anything.

Me and OH don't buy for eachother anymore as there's nothing we want or need. We get something between us instead such as an experience day or a gig or entertainment. A couple of years ago we bought a 7 in 1 vinyl record player. Best thing we've ever bought 🙂 Suits us fine as other family members buy for us and we buy for them.

I could take him away for the weekend or tickets for a comedy gig.

Mine tells me not to buy him anything as there is nothing he wants! I gave him a tin opener for his birthday and he is having a tea cosy for Christmas.

Is it a case of him not wanting any presents because there's nothing he wants or is it that he'd like a present but can't think of anything that he wants or needs?

If it's the former, then just stop buying him presents. DP and I haven't bought each other presents for years. It takes away all the stress.

Nothing he needs. He is not particularly materialistic.
He is a kind man. He would probably be just as happy if I made him a box of biscuits.

A box of home made biscuits sounds a lovely present.

He gets the gift of time with me! But seriously I get what you mean.

I gave my DP an ironing board last year as well. This year he's getting a kettle. He's getting me a rug. Much prefer getting something useful that we both want.
We'll probably gift each other some chocolates, booze and books as well.

DecafDodger · 16/12/2024 17:33

Yes DH and I both agree that we buy each other a trip somewhere. In reality this means I just book one, as we have all joint accounts anyway. Works for us - we have our own tastes and like to buy our own personal things.

Purplecatshopaholic · 16/12/2024 17:33

We don’t do much gifting to each other either, unless there’s something specific one of us sees that we know would be greatly enjoyed. We don’t need more stuff, lol. I did get my partner an art book he coveted this year as I knew he wanted it and I saw it on a website.

Mrswhatsit40 · 16/12/2024 17:33

Does he read? My dh favourite presents always seem to be random books I buy him based on things I think he'll be interested in - this year he's getting one by an author I know he admires, Vic Reeves art book (which looks hilarious) and Drew Pritchards latest book (he likes that programme of his).

He has also asked me to paint him a picture bless him (he has everything and can buy whatever he likes but is the least materialistic person I know). I'm going to commission art student ds with the task!

Perplexed20 · 16/12/2024 22:02

No. I'm a book worm but him much less so (he got me David Copperhead last christmas). Loves gchq puzzle books and such but has loads of those.
On the upside he broke a belt today...

But you have given me an idea. I did his family tree (to try and prove the peasant stock he come from) and found loads of interesting things including him being related to actual knights. Can trace it back to 1050. I might see if I can turn it into a book.
