Christmas breakfast

So we have normally gone to my partners parents for Christmas Day breakfast but this year we are going later in the day so need ideas to do at home. My family always just had our usual toast/cereal but DP family always do something special and that seems a nice idea but I can't think what to do.
Needs to be easy to make (even if it's make ahead) and have a dairy free option for DD (2.5). Not too heavy and not meat based really as we have so much of that later.
Any ideas? What do you have?

Ikea have frozen pancakes that taste as if you had just cooked them fresh. Those and a Christmassy fruit salad also Ikea do frozen cinnamon buns too

The Just rol brand ready to bake croissants and cinnamon swirls are dairy free. They have a "may contain milk" warning as lots of stuff does so depends how you feel about that.

That's fine for us. Thanks they are a great shout

Jus roll croissants (they are vegan)
With fillings such as cheese or chocolate spread or jam

Selection box surely? Moo free or nomo for the dairy free members.

I'm sure some dairy free chocolate will be consumed! 😂

Christmas porridge - can be made with non-dairy milk (or water and add non-dairy yoghurt afterwards)
With cranberries, mixed spice and chopped nuts

Scutterbug · 11/12/2024 18:39

We do pastries and fruit too.

MinnieMountain · 11/12/2024 18:50

Pork pie and pickles, and pastries.

I don’t know where the pork pie idea comes from. MIL lived in Preston until she was 5, then came to the Fens. FIL is a pure Fenlander and seems equally keen.

That sounds nice but DD won't touch porridge and I think DP would think it's too healthy for Xmas day! 😂

We do salmon & cream cheese bagels plus frozen pastries with Buck’s Fizz & Juice for dc. not dairy free though.

ByKindOpalPoet · 11/12/2024 18:53

We do a homemade version of a McDonald's breakfast muffin, we tend to have the muffins, sausage patties, egg and bacon (some don't have egg etc)

Radishknot · 11/12/2024 18:54

You can make porridge look festive, my dc always ask for it on Xmas eve.

or banana pancakes?

Came to make a thread on this. My DC are with me just in the morning so want something fun and tasty but not time consuming.

can anybody recommend some really nice ready made sweet waffles and a easy quick chocolate sauce (like the waffle house if anyone is familiar)?

UnhealthyCopingStrategies · 11/12/2024 20:24

@Cmq Marks have some star shaped waffles that go in the toaster for 30secs - but I imagine you could do all 8 in under the grill if you watch it like a hawk...

We do smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, for years we made DD bacon and eggs because she didn't like smoked salmon. She now buys packs of it for herself.
