When to cut down

At what age do you stop spending on your kids like you did when they were small/teens if at all? I have three in their twenties now and have cut back but I have friends that haven’t. Am I wrong to cut back or is it just a matter of choice? I also have two children that are preteens who still get twice as much as the older ones so that makes me wonder whether they should all have the same regardless of age. Until I realised friends still give what they always have I assumed it was just a natural thing that it was slowly withdrawn until they got 1 present 🤔

I spend about 4 times as much now as I did when they were little. It's easy to get cheap toys but harder once they are teens.

Probably never to be honest.
Son only has me really, no siblings. His Moroccan father and his side of the family have never bothered with him. Only have my dad as my mum and sister have passed.
Although 21 he loves Christmas, does not expect much and his list is small but I go mad and really spoil him and just cant ever seeing myself stop doing that.

I don’t get a gift from my parents now. They have 4 daughters and 4 son in laws and 9 grandchildren so it’s too expensive for them. They buy vouchers for the grandchildren though. I only have 2 kids so will prob carry on for as long as I can afford it.

I’ve cut down a bit this year…they’re 19 and 22 now, and usually get a few hundred spent on main presents, plus a big stocking. No more stockings this year - there’ll still be stocking-type gifts but they’ll be under the tree, along with a couple of other gifts. I decided over the summer to cut back, when I found last years stocking gifts untouched in their rooms. It’s a lot of money for stuff to be left in the corner of their rooms! 😄 So a lot less this year…

When my DC were still children I spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on them, when they went to university o cut down to about £180-£200. They ate now mid 20’s to mid 30’s and I’ve frozen the amount I spend which is about £150 on each of them and I will continue with this amount so that over time they will gradually get less.
