Oil diffuser recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good non expensive oil diffuser please. I don’t want to spend much as it’s just something I’m trying. It’s for my SEN ds and could end up being a waste. Very trial and error with what we buy him. I’ve seen loads of scented calming products advertised on sensory websites so thinking a diffuser for his room with some calming oils might be worth a try

Make your own. Much cheaper than buying a set.
Buy some augeo base from Amazon (£14.95 a litre).
Buy some fragrance oil (not essential oil). Mystic Moments have a large range and you can use Amazon. It's cheaper at larger quantities but maybe find a scent at a lower quantity first.
Mix 25% fragrance to 75% base.
Use your old diffuser containers and sticks.

If you don't have old diffusers containers Tesco have small ones for £1.50.

It is much cheaper to make your own.

Can you use a tea light & burn essential oils in it before he goes to bed rather than leaving him with it? Otherwise the best are atomiser types that use no water - aromatherapy associates is the best but it's £££ -also the Neom mini is pretty good.

I’ve got one from Marks and would recommend.

I really don't think there's much difference between diffusers. I have one in nearly every room including Neom, Oliver Bonas and generic Amazon and they all do the same job. Just get any you like the look of from Amazon.

Neom blends are nice but pricey. Have a look in TK Maxx for Tisserand oils which are very good.

For oils, I’d recommend just starting with a couple of basic pure ones - lavender for calming, plus maybe a citrus one. I love eucalyptus but it’s not for everyone.

Yes actually I didn’t think of that. This could be a good idea to try. I couldn’t leave the diffuser in his room either it would always be for just before he goes to bed then need removed.

I buy fragrance free baby wipes and let them dry out and the splash fragrance or essential oils on it and place discreetly in room and they are far more effective than diffusers. Afterwards they can be used to fragrance clothing drawers.

If you can get to Homesense and £10 is within your budget, they had some nice ones down there a couple of weeks ago.

Iliketulips · 11/12/2024 11:58

Not Homesense, I mean Dunelm! (mind you Homesense are sure to do them).

Just a thought, would it be helpful to get one with a remote control so you could turn it off from the doorway rather than risk going in and waking your son?
