Coffee hamper

CandlesAndLighters · 09/12/2024 16:58

I"d like to make a coffee hamper for my dsis. She has a bean to cup coffee machine. If you are a coffee lover, what would you like to have in your coffee hamper?

A variety of nice coffee beans would be lovely, no need for a mug, teaspoons or flavoured syrups.

anibendod · 10/12/2024 18:02

shakers for adding chocolate/ cinnamon were a hit with my DH. I got mine on amazon

ErrolTheDragon · 10/12/2024 18:10

About how much are you thinking of spending?

Merrow · 10/12/2024 19:27

A selection of different beans from a local roastery, but I like my coffee black. I have a good travel flask, but that was a previous present. As were some really good quality cups that were the same brand as used in my favourite coffee shop.

GiantRoadPuzzle · 10/12/2024 19:30

We really like Pact coffee beans and also recommend a tightvac container which keeps the beans or grounds airtight and fresh.

JingleB · 10/12/2024 19:34

Places like Paddy and Scott or Monmouth Coffee Company do very nice selections of beans. I would go with that sort of thing.

With a bean to cup machine she’s probably a coffee purist, so no ‘seasonal’ flavours, no syrups or shakers. She won’t need a nice scoop measure either as the machine does it.

Maybe a nice espresso cup and saucer, or cantuccini biscuits for dunking in her coffee?

CandlesAndLighters · 10/12/2024 19:35

I ordered d'longhi coffee glasses but they don't seem amazing. Slightly disappointed and might return. Maybe Bodum are better. Any ideas for cappuccino sized mugs / cups / glasses?

cantuccini biscuits are a good shout. Considering all the suggestions, thanks!

A small cafetière (about £5 in Asda when I bought one) makes an excellent milk frother. Half fill the cafetière with warm milk and move the plunger up and down quickly til frothy.

Maybe some artisan biscuits (the kind you get in good garden centres but wouldn't spend that much on yourself. )

Having just heard on the news that the price of arabica beans has reached a record price (and that's presumably bulk raw beans!) I'd go for a selection of beans from a good roaster (here it'd be Atkinsons in Lancaster) as much ad you can afford and forget the bits and bobs. Someone who is into coffee will probably already have a proper frother if they want one.

I like Rave beans (no 5). Some nice mugs? I like coffee syrup too but many don't 😄 a coffee scoop?

A ben to cup machine doesn't need a scoop. Which is a shame as a nice scoop is a very pleasing small item.

I agree with pps that best quality beans you can get, plus perhaps Italian biscuits to go with it and maybe some double walled mugs? Bodum ones look good. Or some fancy looking little enamel mugs. But no syrups or gimmicky things

BeaLola · 10/12/2024 20:03

Stirrers - like the ones on Robert Welch website

Don't you still need to scoop beans into the hopper? Keep them in an airtight container until they need grinding, just like with a normal grinder? I'm so confused 😆

What?? No. I have a bean to cup and use syrups sometimes, and shakers. It isn't an expresso machine. There are options for lattes etc.

No, I just pour the bag into the top of mine. I suppose you could, but any spoon would work, since you're not measuring.

I do this to froth the milk. It's a small glass cafetiere in a plastic frame that goes into the microwave. I've got a proper frother but this is so much quicker because your using your own muscle rather than waiting for the twizzly thing to do it's work.

The coffee machine will froth the milk if it is automated, or has the wand attached.

Nikitaspearlearring · 10/12/2024 20:42

Re biscuits - have you ever tried making almond biscotti? Really easy to make and far superior to the bought ones. Loads of recipes online. I add grated orange zest and a teaspoon of orange juice and they are divine!

Ah, my coffee machine is a cafetiere!

I've bought some single origin coffee beans for the better half. Pact are doing a 12 days of Xmas coffee sachets which does the same thing, I ordered ground so he can try it between our main beans. Was supposed to be a Xmas gift but the packaging gave it all away!!! So had to order more.
Nice biscuits are a great idea, we particularly like Italian style biscuits like amaretti or ricciarelli, the amaretti often come in v pretty tins too.
We aren't fans of syrup but I think as a one off I'd be happy to receive some vanilla syrup.

Spiced nuts would be good if you can make some?

Caramel, for me, I dislike vanilla. 🤭 So maybe a selection of mini different flavour op? Costco do some posh biscuits if you have one near you

That's a fair compromise!
