What to feed the rich Christmas fruit cake with, that is toddler friendly?

Apple juice? Orange juice?

Brandy.
You might put a couple of tablespoons on.
Toddlers eat a fraction of a cake - so maybe 1ml of brandy that has sat around.
I'm all for nit feeding kids booze, but this one isn't on my radar.

Tea maybe? I used to soak my fruit in tea when I lived somewhere alcohol free. But never fed the cake once made.

Orange juice, apple juice or tea. Bit not until just before you need to ice it, and it'll only last a week or so. If fed with fruit juice, it'll only as long as the use by date of the juice.

if you made it with enough time to mature (c 8 weeks or so?) It should be decently moist.

I wouldn't give a toddler Christmas Cake , it's a bit rich for them . Give another small piece of something else. Victoria sandwich maybe or Maderia ?

Soak the fruit in orange juice instead of brandy. You could feed the cake with orange juice just before icing if you are going to eat it straight away. Otherwise it will ferment 😂

I would just give the toddler something else! They probably won’t like it much and everyone else will have to suffer dry cake. Or buy a shop bought mini Christmas cake for them or make a mini cake for them.

I just use brandy! It’s a tiny amount by the time the toddler eats it.

My mum won't eat our Christmas cake usually because it's too moist/boozy for her. She likes a dry cake though and I hated it growing up!

We're an "everything in moderation" household. And whatever we eat, they want to try.

Oh yes that is a good point about use by dates!

Cake was made on stir up Sunday, so surely if we don't feed it - it will be dry and not moist by Xmas time?

Usually, I would make the cake and we'd feed it a tbsp of brandy once a week until Xmas.
