Hospital stocking fillers!

LittleRedRidingHoody · 08/12/2024 09:46

Hey all!

I ~ thought ~ I was done, but DM is currently an inpatient in hospital, and likely continue to be over the holidays now. Just trying to think of more practical/fun bits to get as stocking fillers. She's in/out hospital regularly so has the 'basics' (all tech/charging solutions, a couple of books, suduko/puzzle books, lots of comfy socks/slippers, good headphones, earplugs, etc) She's able to read, but not move around.

So far I have:

New pair of cashmere socks
First edition of her favourite book
Satsuma
Chocolate coins
Lindt reindeer
L'occitane Hand cream

I've removed: (will give relevant ones to her when she gets home)

Disney on ice tickets
A nice candle
Skin care bits (she has what she needs regularly already)
Painting bits
Perfume
Car air fresheners

Any more ideas?

Easy craft kits, adult colouring book, journal, small/easy jigsaw puzzle, solitaire game, powerful portable charger, eye mask, lip balm and handcream

Insulated coffee cup
Stanley-type water cup
Crochet/embroidery type kit
Short jacket-style dressing gown

You could always look to upgrade what she has, ie noise cancelling headphones, Loop earplugs etc if you think she would use them.

A tin of fruit jellies or some sort of fruit sweets

If she likes tea sone mint teabags

A Jellycat - small Christmas one like the tree or snowball

She may not be able to wear the cashmere socks in there. Usually, patients are given ones with non-slip things on them to prevent falls.

Lip gloss
My mum take hooks with her to use on her bed side table. She can then hang bags off the side, such as her knitting etc. Rather than having to get out of bed to access the side table. www.amazon.co.uk/Hanging-Hangers-Bathroom-Bedroom-Kitchen/dp/B01MQNN8HP/ref=asc_df_B01MQNN8HP?mcid=1995564f0d5c3c1eb39ebe78d3fb7b6c&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=696352102752&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3684413597488333353&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045062&hvtargid=pla-597176455408&gad_source=1&th=1

A nice scented hand sanitiser, nice wipes to freshen up with, lip salve, glasses cleaning wipes, a jar of nice chutney to spice up the meals.
Do you think she'll still be in hospital at Christmas?

AdaColeman · 08/12/2024 12:50

Wet wipes
Waterproof flip flops if she's able to go for a shower
Nice soap
Small hand mirror
Boiled sweets/little tin of Christmas biscuits if appropriate
Notebook and pen
Hair scrunchy/clip if she's got long hair
Evian water facial spray, lovely for an instant revive if her ward is very hot

A jigsaw.
Radio Times, if she has her own TV.
Fruit hamper.
Favourite magazine.

A bed jacket, or just a fleecy, cosy jacket to use when sitting in bed.

A small, light up bed side clock with the time/date on it. It can be disorientating being in hospital and have no clue what the date/time is.
