Where can I find a good quality affordable silk pillow case please?

I buy mulberry silk from Amazon

wibdib · 07/12/2024 18:02

I was lucky enough to get a nice one from Boots on their £10 Tuesday deals - think it's usually about £20 but might be somewhere to look, especially if you can benefit from. points or doing it on 3 for 2 or some other similar offer!

decisionsdecisionsdecision · 07/12/2024 18:07

Check it's 100% silk. There's a few on vinted being sold as new that you can research the make of

Depositless · 07/12/2024 18:07

There are silk pillowcases, and there are silk pillowcases. I buy myself one a year. They should be at least 22 Momme and mulberry silk.

I always get mine from Lilysilk

Bubblebuttress · 07/12/2024 18:08

In saw some in John Lewis

Nitgel · 07/12/2024 18:09

I have a mulberry silk one from johnlewis.com. It's nice I bung in the machine and it seems OK

TheDogIsInCharge · 07/12/2024 18:13

I have two - one from John Lewis and one from Slip Silk. The one from Slip Silk is better quality but seems to now be double the price!

arethereanyleftatall · 07/12/2024 18:14

I've just thought fuck it and gone for it through blissy. The reviews are so good.

Dreamingofgoldfinchlane · 07/12/2024 18:15

The ones from John Lewis are terrible - cheap for a reason. I prefer Slip.

Thistooshallpass. · 07/12/2024 18:15

I have John Lewis and m and s .
The John Lewis ones are softer and wash better . I just put them in at 30 .

I have the same ones from Lilysilk and I would agree up to a point. I also bought some cheap ones on Amazon to use when travelling and they aren’t as luxurious but they still work if you want them to protect your hair and are nice enough.

Mipil · 07/12/2024 18:34

@arethereanyleftatall Are you in the UK? Blissy ships from the US and you will have to pay import duties, VAT, customs handling fees. I seem to remember a thread where the OP got caught out by that.

LemonyChicken · 07/12/2024 18:35

I have done a lot of research into this in the Lemony household and the john lewis are the best value for money and wash well in the washing machine

arethereanyleftatall · 07/12/2024 19:08

Oh tits, I didn't know that. I just paid what it said, and it said free shipping. Was all in sterling.

Mipil · 07/12/2024 19:39

Yep, it’s a bit sneaky, @arethereanyleftatall, it looks like a UK website and the shipping policy is well hidden. How much did your order cost? I don’t think you pay any duties under £135.

TooTiredToType77 · 07/12/2024 19:40

I bought one for £30 in M&S for my daughter

GellerYeller · 07/12/2024 19:44

Mine’s from John Lewis. It’s very thin but washes ok. I put it in a mesh laundry bag though.

Damn. £180

RedRosie · 07/12/2024 23:05

Would you consider satin? Silk is incredibly cruel (sorry!).

Mipil · 08/12/2024 00:19

I think you can cancel if the order hasn’t shipped, @arethereanyleftatall.

You could look up on gov.uk to see if any customs duties are due. I think you will definitely have to pay VAT and the handling fee from Royal Mail or the courier for processing the paperwork 🙄

Mipil · 08/12/2024 00:23

Actually, I would definitely cancel. The reviews on Trustpilot are awful.

arethereanyleftatall · 08/12/2024 07:26

Thank you @Mipil
But it's too late, they shipped within minutes.
What a shame -this was my treat to us all for Christmas. The reviews I saw were all glowing. I'll just have to pay whatever more I have to pay. I'm still glad for this thread, I've been forewarned and learnt a lesson.

Pattygonia · 08/12/2024 08:00

I bought my mother silk pillowcases from Dorma at Dunelm and she's been really pleased with them. They come boxed and are v reasonably priced for the quality.
