I've bought her a purse and some gloves and cosy socks £30 and I've got her a box of celebrations
For her 2 kids I've got them some nice PJs from M&S ,a chocolate Santa and a small selection box

Would you add another little gift for the kids ?
Maybe another little something for friend ?

I don't want to appear tight but it's all adding up

What do you usually buy? How much do you usually spend? I personally think that’s more than enough, I don’t buy for any of my friends kids. My best friend and I usually spend about £20 on each other.

Normally I would add a toy In there too but this year is a bit tight as we have just been on holiday

That's more than enough x

Those are lovley gifts! It makes me so sad that so many of us feel such pressure to buy things for people that they don’t need when we’re already struggling to get essentials for ourselves that we DO need! I’ve asked a ‘friend’ for the last three years to please, please not by me anything and she ignores me ( it’s a toxic power play I’m trying to get out of the friendship) and I hate it! You’ve set your limit, you chosen lovley thoughtful gifts, please don’t spend beyond your means because no one (I’m not talking about people in genuine need) needs more sweets or PJ’s. Set your own bar when it comes to your limits and stick to it. X

That sounds fine

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 06/12/2024 17:13

We don't do gifts between adults. Sacked that off ages ago. the kids presents are fine.

Pistolpunk · 06/12/2024 18:00

Dont put pressure on yourself. Those gifts are absolutely fine as they are. I stopped buying for adults years ago apart from my adult dc and buy their partners something also.

AngelontopoftheTree · 06/12/2024 18:09

Sounds perfectly fine to me, but I don't buy gifts for friends and their children.
What does she usually buy for you?

asrl78 · 06/12/2024 18:18

It is enough, it is not about the monetary value of the gift it is about the thought, and it looks like you have thought about what to give. You really don't want to be engaging in a spending competition trying to go bigger and better each time, otherwise you end up like the Lewes bonfire where it becomes so big/expensive it becomes unsustainable.

Darby3785 · 06/12/2024 18:32

That sounds absolutely perfect OP , more than enough.

JC03745 · 06/12/2024 18:36

Half that would have been more than enough!

Most of my friends, we exchange cards or a token gift only!

QueenBitch666 · 06/12/2024 22:35

Sounds over the top to me. Christmas isn't all about mindless reciprocative consumerism
