Colour scheme boxes

We always do each other a fun colour scheme box for xmas, with colours picked randomly out of a hat. This year I am struggling to fill the boxes! Any suggestions for a yellow box (DH) pink box (DD 18 who HATES pink) and a purple box for DD 16 who's favourite colour is purple and has lots of purple things already. Obviously it will involve the usual trawl around the supermarket getting everything with corresponding colour packaging etc but any other suggestions? Fun and serious items...but NOT cheap temu tat.

What are their interests? Are they sporty? Bookish? Arty? Are your DDs girly?

Mipil · 06/12/2024 14:21

It seems a bit unfair on your DD who hates pink… What kind of budget are you thinking?

DinoGD · 06/12/2024 14:52

Is it quite literal?

Or could you use things that have the word pink.. like any merchandise for the artist Pink, or if she likes Victoria Secret's Pink collection? (Obvs they don't just do underwear - perfume, lounge wear etc). Or perfume with pink-ish bottles, or if she likes make up, an every day shade of pink/nude lipstick etc? Or if she's into sweets, lots of pink sweets around (party rings, pick & mix type sweets, pink hot chocolate, pink chocolate, things with pink packaging like prawn cocktail crisps etc?)

Might be a bit harder if she's not into 'girly' things though!

Yellow honey might work. Or Colman’s mustard. Or a sunshine shaped air freshener for the car.

Lush used to do a (purple) grape flavoured lip balm. Plenty of pink things there too!
The Colour Purple book.
A packet of strawberry Angel Delight. Banana Angel Delight for DH.
Some of those retro banana mallow sweets. And pink shrimps.
Packet of seeds for yellow/pink/purple flowers.
Nail polish.

Sweet packets :
yellow for jelly babies
pink for Percy pigs/ rowntrees berry hearts
purple for cadburys - Christmas robin ones look good.

Highlighter in each colour - you can buy individually in WHSmith.

Soap in each colour, French Savon de Marseille is good, you can buy individual bars unwrapped in loads of colours.

Packet of crisps each - Seabrooks do yellow (cheese and onion, pink (prawn cocktail) and purple (ham) flavours.

Penguin books, cloth bound versions come in all sorts of colours, or vintage classic ones.

You used to be able to buy the purple quality street in an individual giant size. Not sure about the gold/yellow ones.
Phone covers - looking at my own bright yellow one!

She pulled the colour out of the hat! And we had a good laugh. She said as long as it includes prawn cocktail crisps and pink wafers it's all good! I will do a lottery ticket too... they are pink. My little pony (retro... she works with horses so that will be fun) pink lego and pink cocktails!

These ideas are great! Thank you everyone. These boxes are great fun to make and do and we all enjoy getting one... even if we don't like our chosen colours.

I guess it’s not so bad if it’s mostly food stuffs or toiletries but it rather rules out lovely useful things that usually go in stockings like socks and gloves, make up, gadgets, stationery, jewellery, mugs, water bottles even candles if she hates the colour.

Primark has lots of pink Hello Kitty beauty stuff at the moment.

Coloured pens, post it notes, plant pots for house plants.

FortyFacedFuckers · 07/12/2024 15:14

For the pink box the pink Lindt chocolates, the pink Rio de janerio, Percy pigs?

My first thought was Lush. They do shower gels in each of those shades:
Yellow - Happy Hippy or (I think) Egg Nog
Pink - Snow Fairy
Purple - Oudness/Goddess

This isn't our stocking presents. It's just a fun thing we do each year. We all have separate stockings and our 'actual' presents too. It's always a bit of a joke to get a colour we don't really like!

What a cute tradition! If your DH or eldest DD drive, the jelly bean car air fresheners come in those colours. You can also get mini torches for your keychain which are very handy.

If your DD likes make-up, there's a few brands with pink packaging. Sculpted by Aimee is brilliant & also pink. Sheet masks are also a good way to get the colour in without sticking her with something she'll hate looking at. The Garnier ultra bomb hydration mask has a pink wrapper I think. Pretty sure there's a purple one too for your second DD.

TickingAlongNicely · 07/12/2024 19:01

I've got DD some pink flamingo sweets from the range.
