When do you start putting out your Christmas snacks?

Now that we have the Christmas tree and decorations up, my DH and 2 DS keep asking me to put the Christmas goodies out - mince pies, chocolates, Twiglets, nuts, etc.

Even the After Eights which are specifically for Christmas Day!

Guaranteed if I put them out now, they’ll all be eaten by next weekend and I refuse to buy anymore.

They're all safely hidden away atm because the rest of my family just can’t be trusted!

We don’t buy loads as i don’t finish for Christmas, and still work my normal hours partner does have a week off though. We tend to start with a cheese board and the after eights xmas eve once we both have finished work. We are are often out and about on my days off. So a few odd bits of crisps/chocolate for evenings when both of us are home.

Treats on the tree get nibbled on as soon as they get put on.

Other stuff like mince pies, tins of Hero’s & Celebrations just get eaten & replaced so there is stuff for post Christmas Day.

Don’t start on the cheeses till Xmas day though.

Never heard of this before, I just pop out Christmas food on Christmas morning.

Snap. There are no Christmas snacks here, well apart from the advent calendar. Actually come to think of it there are no snacks on Christmas day, we have Christmas Dinner and that's it. My daughter has some chocolate coins in her stocking and I've got my husband some chocolate but that's it.

Oh I tell a lie, I did buy 2 individual mince pies and we had those a couple of weeks ago. I am a joyless soul!!

This is fascinating. We wait until Christmas day. We don't buy a lot extra at all,Christmas day dinner is our highlight (which will be non traditional as usual). Last year we had dessert and cheese and crackers (a full table of stuff to pick from) for dinner on boxing day.

We both really love our food - Christmas day is a croissant for breakfast. Then the main meal. Then maybe some crisps and chocolate

I also find it interesting, we have a buffet Christmas Eve, breakfast Christmas day is normal and then Christmas dinner which is mid afternoon. Then that's it.

I’ve a box I keep adding to, mainly as we are hosting 2 dinners and I feel better knowing, I’ve the desserts. I’m going to do a mini dessert board, stollen, florentines, mince pies etc

We’ve already had Lindt balls, mince pies, Baileys, Amaretto.

Around 21st, I’ll get out my Christmas plates and pop a few lovely things on them for snacking.

I guess my reasoning is mainly financial as we don’t have an infinite amount of money to spend at Christmas and whilst I’ve been buying things every week when I get my normal food shopping, I’m unable to keep replacing things.

Had a great day yesterday though, baking Christmas cookies and mince pies singing along to Christmas songs. They went down well and put some away for nearer the time.

Love everyone’s thoughts, thank you!

I think if it’s financial then it is what it is. Your husband should know you can’t afford to replace these things, so just speak to him and say you can’t afford it so to stop asking and support with the kids when they ask.

he shouldn’t be behaving like he’s a kid too, asking for goodies, when he knows there is no money to replace these things.
