Teen girls and boys - where do they clothes shop?

JumpstartMondays · 03/12/2024 21:17

Thinking of vouchers for teen nieces and nephews but I have no idea what shops are in these days for their age.

New look? H&M?

I'm guessing John Lewis or M&S is out 😆

Amazon or cash if there aren't any malls around them.

Love2shop is awful

mamajong · 03/12/2024 22:49

Pull & bear, gym shark, JD sport, sweaty Betty,

Onabench · 03/12/2024 22:50

They want cash, don't make it harder

Actually they don't want cash

Just remembered there are cards that can be used in a variety of shops...I don't mean the one linked to a particular shopping centre. My DD received one once...it was called a one4all card I think. They sell them in my local supermarket.

I can’t imagine them having an issue with cash instead of a voucher. It’s the same really except easier to use.

They save cash, they don't want cash. I've asked.

They want vouchers, they spend vouchers.

They don’t spend any cash? How odd. But if you’ve asked them, then also ask what shops they like.

mrssquidink · 04/12/2024 10:57

DD is 17 and whilst likes to be vaguely on trend isn’t hugely into fashion, for her it’s Zara, H&M, Hollister. And a lot of Primark.

DS is now 19 but when a younger teen it was all sportswear, mainly Adidas and Nike. Then he changed at 16 and it was polo shirts and jeans, he liked Uniqlo but really wanted Ralph Lauren and Fred Perry. You can pick up their polos for less (I won’t say cheap) in TK Maxx.

As aforementioned, they save cash.

"dunno" [shuffle shuffle shrug shrug] was the response to what shops. Teens.

Ask their parents then, there’s a huge range in what teens like and you could be wasting your money otherwise.

evtheria · 04/12/2024 11:07

Just be careful giving any JDSports gift cards - if they're going to order off the site, often items eg from Nike can't be bought with a gift card.
I think it's things that are sent direct from the brand, rather than JD's own warehouse, if you get what I mean. Have had a couple frustrating experiences of DS not being able to buy the trainers or backpack he liked!

colesr · 04/12/2024 11:18

If they don't live near a mall be careful when buying vouchers so they can actually spend them online, its not always as straight forward as you think.

Then Amazon may be the best bet.

Twopintsprick81 · 04/12/2024 11:56

I think it's quite risky if you don't know what kind of image they're into. JD sports is a safe bet with most teens but not so much if they're into the 'goth/emo/skater' scene for example.
Do they live in an area with a large shopping centre. I live in Newcastle and think you can get an Eldon square voucher which covers most of the main shops in the town. I think it's different to a love 2 shop voucher.
That way they'd have far more options

CitiesInDust · 04/12/2024 12:13

Does it have to be clothes? Nando’s or Superdrug might be safer.

LilacLilyBird · 04/12/2024 12:17

Don't bother with vouchers

Give them cash to spend on what they want instead of restricting them

DumpedByText · 04/12/2024 12:19

H&M, Urban Outfitters, Primark. Some teens like New Look my DD hates it!

ManhattanPopcorn · 04/12/2024 12:21

Ds isn't interested in anything other than JD sports.

Edit - now that I think of it, Boots. Aftershave is a very big deal.

Verite1 · 04/12/2024 12:23

Just another idea - my DN is massively into skin care/beauty products so a SpaceNK gift card would probably be her idea of heaven. But obviously depends on the child!

MyOneAndOnlyPostForTheChristmasTreeThread · 04/12/2024 13:07

River island. New look h&m , jd my 12year old loves
Jd and foot asylum for ds. Who lives in sportswear.

FuckItItsFine · 04/12/2024 13:12

Boy - JD sports
girl - Space NK

I have a 17/13 yo

Id say Brandy Melville, Hollister & Urban Outfitters are the favourites. Not the cheapest though.....

This is where my teen daughter likes to shop - plus Subdued

Hayley1256 · 04/12/2024 13:18

Asos, Urban Outfitters, Hollister, Amazon, PS5 or Xbox, pre-paid mastercard
