What do I need to do in advance of Lapland UK?

I have tickets for Lapland UK I think on 17th December. Never been before and bought on a whim.

I am now 100% overwhelmed by work and can't even bring myself to open the many emails they are spamming me with.

Can I just turn up with kids on 15th or is there stuff I have to be on top on in advance.

I have received the box of invites in the post but haven't opened.

I want it to be a lovely day out- please tell me (in gentle terms) what I should focus on doing.

Thank you.

I haven’t been for a few years, but i think open the box with the envelopes so you can deliver them to the children!
I think you need to read the emails - as you email back with info about your children which makes the santa experience more personal
You can pre buy “jingles” which is their money for your children to use to pay for stuff in the little village- you don’t have to, can use debit cards but your kids might like it.
Hopefully others more knowledgeable can give you more up to date info but definitely check about emailing with stuff about your kids- will make the santa visit loads better and it’s a shame to spend so much on a lovely activity without doing it properly.
Hope you have an amazing time! And good luck getting work out of the way.

Sorry I don't have any advice but just came on to say I am extremely jealous that you're going and hope you have an amazing time! I can wait to do it when mine are older!

Hobbiezebra · 30/11/2024 09:11

Fuck, OK I am going to have to be brave and engage. Agree, I want it to be great. Thank you!

Although if anyone has worked their way through this year's (many!) emails and wants to give me the highlights/action points I would somehow shower Christmas blessings on you.

OP, come on now. Just read your emails. It's really rude to expect people to take time to spell it out for you when you have all the information to hand.

Hobbiezebra · 30/11/2024 09:39

Have now read the 25+ emails....

Would people recommend getting the £25 (!!) Per child worth of elf money to spend. Is that the right amount? Thinking few sweets, hot chocolate, things that enhance the experience without ended up with lots from a gift shop. Don't want to end up having to spend them just to use up.

Have found the link to fill in details to help santa - will fill in.

You can change the money back at the end of your visit if you don't spend it (well so suggests a quick google)

Do whatever you think it will take for your kids to have a fantastic time which deep down is the reason you booked it even if you did so on a whim.

If your heart isn't really in it and your kids don't know about the trip maybe try and offload your tickets somehow and postpone until you are in a better headspace

This might answer some of your questions FAQ

Hobbiezebra · 30/11/2024 09:48

Working my way through FAQs. Thanks!

I went last weekend.

You don’t need the jingles - I didn’t - you can just pay by card.

the most important things are have you filled out the personalisation bit online for your kids. You’ll be asked what they are celebrating and their favourite thing.

also you need to arrive 30 minutes before you slot for “check in” - so if your slot is 12.30 - you need to arrive at approx 12.00 because if you are late you will be taken to whatever part of the journey everyone on the same time is at

but it’s an amazing day

RosieLeaf · 30/11/2024 10:12

No, you don’t need elf money. Just make sure you’ve filled out the personalisation bit for when they meet FC, it’s magical. They do check with you at the check-in desk if you need to make any updates.

Hobbiezebra · 30/11/2024 10:33

Really useful. Thank you!

Nothing else to add as the advice has been spot on so far but I’m also going on the 15th!

Second time for us, last year was just magical, I was truly blown away. I will be taking spare socks this time as ours got soaked after ice skating. Something to bear in mind!

TheMaskedSingSong · 01/12/2024 16:53

We went on day 3 of opening. It was just so magical. Going to try and get tickets again for next year.

There is not much prep to do beforehand but if you put the invite box in the freezer for an hour and put it on the doormat in the morning of Going it's a nice touch.

The most important bit is filling out the form regarding your children's likes and interests for father Christmas to make it a personalised experience.

Bring a spare pair of clothes too as we got wet ice skating in the village.

Be grateful that you managed to get tickets and just take time to engshe reading the emails. Thousands of families would want to be going to lapland uk and didn't manage it.

DS was an Elf there when he was home from Uni for christmas (6'2, size 15 feet so not your typical Elf) Full Elf regalia and rosy cheeks. he was allowed to wear his own boots when they learned his shoe size

They really stick to the story-he had to learn a huge amount of answers to questions the kids would ask etc.

He was very impressed by the whole thing and would have loved to have gone as a child.
