Daughter (adult) has requested a thick, fluffy dressing gown, not an oodie. I can't find a nice, patterned one - only boring plain ones, Next have nice scion ones, but they are quite thin. Any ideas?? Thank you

My plain thick, soft dressing gown from Asda is one of my favourite things. Has she said she wants patterned? I wouldn’t choose a patterned one. Just one that’s lovely and thick and cosy.

Yes, she said she wanted patterned. She likes animal prints generally, bright colours. She has small children

Sorry to jump in on your thread OP but I love the patterned suggestions people have found like the Popsy and Scamp + Dude ones.
Has anyone else come across any more like this? I love the Popsy patterns but just wondering if the gown itself looks a bit thin.

Hubby got a Ted Baker dressing gown for Christmas a while back, it's an ugly shade of bottle green which doesn't suit anyone, but it's the warmest, cosiest thing and I'm constantly stealing it and he's constantly complaining that I've nicked it again, despite the unflattering colour.

If you want one as thick as an Oodie, I’d go with Oodie dressing gowns. Only problem is that they’ve got their sale on at the moment and I think they’ve only got one design left, with pigs on, which might not be her cup of tea. Bloody cosy though.

Sorry, I missed your update!

@WilfredsPies When I checked Oodie dressing gowns they had three in stock but all L/XL so ..... I agree though, I have seen one and they are thick and cosy! Next ones used to be, but are much thinner now!

And long enough! I’m still wearing a lovely cosy M&S one I’ve had for years - I’d bought the same one for a friend and then thought sod it, I want one of those, too. It washes like a dream.

M&S previously hadn’t done long enough DGs (I’m 5’ 7 so not exceptionally tall) and when I asked why, said it was in case they were a trip hazard.
So please make them in different lengths, then! said I. And amazingly enough, they did.
I do not want one flapping around mid calf on chilly mornings!

@SlurpSlooChortle Popsy dressing gown - is not thin, is thicker than the Next (Scion) one I looked at originally, but not incredibly thick.
Sorry - that doesn't seem very helpful. I think it will be warm!

@TriciaA1991 thank you for reporting back! It is helpful and I think I may get one as I haven't seen anything elsewhere.
Last question - is it fleecy material that would make static do you think?

I have a berghaus fleece that when I take it off my hair practically stands on end! Blush

Manchesterbythesea · 11/12/2024 12:34

M&S usually have nice ones. Or Tesco.

TriciaA1991 · 11/12/2024 12:34

@SlurpSlooChortle I don't think so, but can't promise! I have some fleeces - not Berghais though (and some Next fleece dressing gown) and not had this problem.
