£5-£10 ideas for older teen

I'd be grateful for some creative ideas for low budget gifts. DC19 is doing Camp America next summer and main gift will be money towards their trip, but want to wrap notes along with 10-15 small individual gifts so that they have things to open on Christmas Day. Needs to be below or around the £5 mark (one or two can go higher) to a total value of about £50
So far I have
Socks
T shirt
Cap/Beanie
Luggage Tag

MN has been great in previous years for clever ideas like power banks and AirPod cleaners although it's fair to say the DC has been largely underwhelmed and prefers the hard cash 🙄

I mean you really can’t get much for £5 these days. Chocolate or sweets they like? Does it have to be lots of little things? If you’ve got £50 wouldn’t if be better to buy one £50 item they’d actually like rather than lots of things you say yourself they haven’t appreciated in the past?

I'd definitely make a lot of them British sweets and chocolates they may miss: Terrys orange, sachets of hot choc, those mini version squeeze squashes, vimto gummies...

• Xmas themed woolly hat or socks
• A pretty card that has a link to a special Spotify playlist you've made
• pillow spray
• trainer cleaning kit or spray and cloth
• miniature toiletry set, something that smells extra good for those camp showers

Not £5 each, but you could do a disposable camera as a gift

Electronic accessories organiser bag or something like Grid It
Tech cleaning kit £4 in Tesco
Everyone seems to be going crazy for atomisers on here so he could decant a fav aftershave
Worlds smallest games

Baby guinness set £7 Tesco

Some great thinking here, thank you so much.
I probably didn't explain myself very well but the idea is that along with every 'token' gift DC opens they also get dollars. So the dollars (in total) are the main gift, the small items are just so they have something to open. And a bit of fun. Hence lots of small things rather than one or two bigger more expensive items. They have said they only want the $$ as their gift so the treats and sweets are bonuses.
Off to pursue some of these ideas (and find out what a positivity potato is...!)

My teens prefer cash or 1 bigger item so for stocking fillers I tend to stock them up on the stuff I buy anyway I.e underwear, socks, their preferred hair and skin care plus vouchers for the places they go with friends (greggs for DS, costa for DD)

MiddleAgedDread · 28/11/2024 10:38

Colinorpercy · 28/11/2024 10:50

There is a good travel stocking filler thread on the Christmas board that might have some ideas. I would add padlocks to the list.

If you want some cheap items that are less than £5 so you can save the budget for a few useful gifts like better quality packing cubes, universal plug adapter rather than buying lots of cheap items, you could head to the world food aisle and buy some American sweets or quintessential foods eg grape soda, Oreos. Big Tesco stores usually have a good selection.

My teens like freeze dried sweets at the moment

CitiesInDust · 30/11/2024 08:53

Tiny and tat, but I’m pleased with these led earrings I’ve ordered.

You could google ideas to put in advent calendars maybe, as it’s a similar sort of size of gift.

I think everyone has said my other thoughts:
bath bomb
socks
lip balm
chocolate/sweets
stationery
